Free idea for Apple: a setting where, if my watch detects that I'm in deep sleep, it delays the alarm until I'm more awake.

Feels like a story that should get some traction outside of bluesky dot app!

NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report. Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.

In 1990, about 20 million animals a year were euthanized in kill shelters. Today, over half the shelters in the US are designated no-kill and less than 500,000 animals are euthanized.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I have to confess: if I ranked the MLB teams from top to bottom on "who I give a shit about" both of these teams would be well south of 25. Even though there's probably going to be no baseball in 2027, I just...can't. You guys have fun.

Good luck to our MLBPA union brothers on the Brewers and Rays tonight as they start the World Series! Play ball, and solidarity forever. ⚾️✊

I have a computer on my wrist that is something like a trillion times more powerful than what they used for the Apollo missions

Every week the great Ben Johnson costs his team points by being way too cute with his play calling. Just fucking play football.

Had a moment at rehearsal the other night. Whole buncha GenX guitar knowers are there--real players, pros, etc. The conversation came around to: if we were going to do a five-song Journey set, what absolutely *has* to be in it? Immediate unanimity: "Stone In Love" is the opener.

Came over to feed my sister’s cats. Pixie is hiding, Pumpkin will only observe me from a safe distance. Come on out! I’m a friend!

Membership at Medinah. Hate me if you must.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

Local friends! It's time for our annual Halloween show! This year I'll be playing in two sets, one as J. Geils and the other as Pearl Jam. The whole lineup is terrific and so is the cause, so if you're looking for something to do on the 30th, Beat Kitchen is the place to be.

Slavery was and is a real thing that has brutalized hundreds of millions of people over the course of human history, if someone tells me a fucking chatbot is enslaved I'm immediately throwing hands. It's not cute, it's not intriguing, it's an insult to real people who suffered and suffer now.

I plan to post on linkedin exactly once in my life: on the day I retire. If you see anything before that, I've either been hacked or am being held hostage.

What the house dems should do right now is promise Trump and the rest of them they're going to make Ilhan the speaker in January

President AOC needs to seize and nationalize Starlink on her first day in office. Maybe SpaceX too. The nazi can keep the rest until he goes to jail for his crimes against humanity and the law.

Happy Chicago Marathon Day! Two years ago right now I was walking from my hotel to the corrals not having slept more than a few minutes, as nervous as I've ever been in my life. For cause: I'd developed bursitis in my left hip while training, and had to quit running about six weeks prior.

The hip felt OK, and as the minutes to the gun ticked down, nerves faded into resolution. Nothing I could do now but run until I couldn't anymore, and hopefully that would be no less than 26.2 down the road.

My doctor and trainer advised me to shut it down. A cortisone shot didn't work, so only rest could heal it. I'd followed the training plan to that point, and everyone agreed even with a month and a half off, I should be fit enough to finish if the hip didn't take me out.

What’s great is that the owner of the team with the feel good story of the century is soon going to lead a ruthless lockout that could last a whole season. He hates baseball and all its fans with a white-hot passion. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs.

I think I’m a realist, carrying a healthy amount of cynicism and optimism in rough balance. I can handle this world we’ve made. But some days *waves hands* it all just fucking staggers me.

Very glad I’m nearing the end of my career, because either way I am nearing the end of my career.

A friend just wrote me about what is happening right now with AI decompiling games and applications (e.g., Adobe Photoshop) and it has really shaken me because the implications for the free market are staggering Basically closed source software is over forever and it happened overnight
