If Americans need our little southern recipe for how to defeat fascism it goes like this: - Put people in the streets by standing for popular demands (wages, healthcare, public services) - Do not engage with fascists online - Do not succumb to doomsayers or media-driven narratives - Be happy

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

it turns out it's quite difficult and time consuming to take a lost dog to somewhere that can help when you are deaf and don't have a car (the dog is now at a shelter but that took 2 hours)

and initially they told me to take the dog to the animal shelter which was, 45 minutes away by train or bus, and i didn't really want to keep the dog with me let alone on a bus that long, so i sat around mulling over where to take him until a kind lady told me she'd take him. thank you kind lady

like i went to a police department which was closer by walking distance than the animal shelter, they told me they couldn't drive me or take dogs and directed me to the location of what they said was an animal shelter, i took myself and the dog on a bus there but then it turned out it's an office,

have i been intolerant of wheat or gluten this whole time and not known...? next up on the scoli endless merry go round of health problems

Hello every non-techie webcomics person who gets scared to even touch their website. PLEASE contact your host and make sure they're ready to patch this.

nightshade →home, for now@nightshade.technology

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

On July 26, 2025, I had to evacuate a plane that caught fire just before takeoff. You might have seen it on the news back then? that one flight at the Denver airport? It's been over a year since then, but better late than never...!

with the increasing number of "i need money, help!!!" posts it feels like another kind of advertising but one spawned from the failure of the social welfare system in various governments. and it makes me go wow i really don't want to beg strangers for money online like this

do i have to make a huge appeal? do i have to? i'm exhausted. i don't want to be popular and have to get popular just to get a decent living. i'd love to do my own thing but the walking corpse of capitalism is sucking all the air out of my body

Hey are you a comic artist on Tapas? Are you frustrated with the news? Publish your Tapas comic on Itch.io (either partially or in full, even just 1 chapter) and submit it to the Tapas X Itch.io bundle form here by Oct 30th 11:59pmEST forms.gle/QhQaJ4cXvXKT... #Tapas

forms.gleA Tapas X Itch.io BundleWe've heard the news that Tapas is shutting down on March 31st, 2027 and I want to setup an Itch.io bundle to help support the artists affected by this. If you have a comic on Tapas, this bundle is f...

i think the real draw of social media to me is just... the ease of posting, knowing that my "gallery" of art/media is updated the instant i share it, without needing to add to anything convoluted. could i do that with my own website? how do i make that easier for ME?

that's part of what i was hoping @panelparty.net would solve, when they made that kickstarter for comix cleric. it's a problem many indie artists have and having such a basic template as they advertised would go a long way towards achieving independence from social media companies.

now i have that going on on my website, scoli.zone, thanks to a wonderful friend of mine. but the way i have to set it up is kind of clunky in javascript currently... i have to update this manually every time i make a new blog post...

insert specific link to the post itself. insert title. insert all tags. i don't really have an automated easy way to do this. i recognize the hypocrisy in saying that...

part of this difficulty i think is that now the website i've created looks nothing like any social media, so i'm like, unfamiliar with it despite making it MYSELF??? brain... why...

also i need to distinguish between, like... micro-blogging, and blogging, and simply having an art gallery. i think what i want is the cross-section of all three that Tumblr kind of has going on, where everything is tagged and can be separated by tag, along with different ways to view that...

i also can't afford to hire a webdev to make my own website! i just... want to know how! but now that i've moved out of my parents' and am paying rent elsewhere, with a brutal job, actually it's harder

"i want to advertise my art more" -> "but not on Meta-owned platforms!" -> "but not on federated platforms!" -> "through a website that i own!" -> BUT NO TIME OR MONEY

can i just make a rich-text editor that appears in my website, that instantly previews what it will look like, and when i hit "submit," it'll appear in real time? i've coded my own website (ZERO AI), and it's difficult to see myself posting more on it at the moment because I don't quite have -

-anything that converts rich text into HTML. so i have to kind of do this mental brain work- for an average artist like me it's a bit too complex. but i don't want to be beholden to companies like Bluesky, Twitter, Instagram to share my artwork and keep it archived.

whenever i make art these days, i just think about how i'll archive it, preserve it, how do i show it off perfectly in a gallery...? or on a social media platform that inevitably dies to the sands of time? the perils of censorship and capitalism?
