“Data indicates that 59-75 % of people never read past the headline, so it's particularly important that journalists try to, you know, avoid lying in the headline. Of those that click past the headline, about half give up after 15 seconds. 20% of people actually fully read stories.“ #flyingcars

Today, a judge in New Mexico ordered Meta to pay $25 billion for misleading users on data privacy and a range of other statements that a jury deemed deceptive (and willfully so). Last month I broke down the jury's determinations on each of the questions posed to it:

I love Richarlison so much, and further evidence of how extraordinary he is is the fact he has become a factor in the Brazilian presidential campaign. It’s mind-blowing (I’ve been following on IG, but it’s only really hit the British media today, it seems).

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

The tactical meta on preparing you for the entry of a syringe has now changed again. The formerly dominant “sharp scratch” has apparently jow given way to the more alarming “tiny bee sting”.

📣 Our latest Arena Paper is out, on the decline of labour journalism: 'The invisibles': Why we need to talk about work. While it is possible to trace good, regular, in-depth reporting about labour, these stories are now rare; labour desks are, in effect, extinct.  🧵 👇 [1/3]

Sometimes arguments over the 'value of #journalism' can feel a little 'how many angels can dance on the head of a pin'. But the brute effort expended on attacking journalists & stopping them reporting shows the value of silence to authoritarians: www.theguardian.com/world/2026/s... #brazil

Tottenham Hotspur spent over £300m in the summer on eight players who have helped them slump to the bottom of the Premier League. But the ill-advised spending spree may not end there. Today I can reveal Spurs want to buy two historic buildings in Enfield 👇 enfielddispatch.co.uk/moves-by-spu...

For all that it's been barely reported in the UK press, it's still hard to understate the importance of the stance @labourunionsuk.bsky.social has taken on trans and non-binary rights this week. Every single trade union affiliated to the party of government has stood up and said we will not comply.
