This would have been a great use case, and it might not even need a big LLM to do that. Perhaps an SLM would be okay as the running engine of a specific tool. Training data would still be among my concerns, but it would be an interesting path forward that can be equitable to all when done right.

it's been useful to have AI review my code snippets and suggest stuff I might've missed, like "there's an API call called X so you don't need to manually do Y here" because in that case, I still write all my code, and the only purpose of the AI is to improve my craft, rather than substitute it

Apparently, there is no specified authentication protocol in 9P. 🀯 This will either simplify my implementation, or make it more difficult.

I just wanted to build a static site generator as a way to kick start my return to blogging and building stuff. But, I wanted to challenge myself by developing a relatively novel architecture to websites and website building. So now, I'm in a rabbit hole figuring out the 9P protocol. 🫠

It's a common saying to use an off-the-shelf engine for your games. But, when you're into nation-building in addition to tech, you get a different perspective: - Building a game with your own game engine contributes to digital sovereignty and helps produce devs with deep technical skills. βš’οΈ

Uhhh, so we're not even gonna consider the copyright and OSS license implications when training coding LLMs? 🀨 While the meme of copying code has been prevalent for a long time, I believe this is also an indication that a lot of developers are not aware of licenses. Code is never just code. πŸ€”

You know something is wrong when the primary strategy of GenAI companies, grifters, and pro-GenAI tech influncers to push for GenAI is fearmongering. The cryptomania influencers were annoying, but never this annoying.

There's something weird about the push for vibe coding, which is effectively pushing programming to be a subscription-based affair, rather than being something that can be done relatively for free. πŸ€” This push is far different from the push for cloud, big data, and even making everyone code. 🀨

I really need a new GPU and a new SSD. I want to play Ace Combat 8 so baaad. 😭 I won't mind paying the full price for it!

It's... so weird that people are not realizing that GenAI models are very expensive to run. Once the subsidies end, the pain of costs will be felt.

Forced to use GenAI at work, and had no choice but to comply. 🫠 But, I did manage to find out a way to protect myself from sycophancy. I added something like this to my AGENTS markdown file. You may want to grab this too. So far, it's been great! No fluff. Just information needed.

AI has always been with us at least since the 1960s. It's just that the tech grifters and sociopaths since the early 2020s wanted us to believe something else for their own personal gain. They ruined AI for the rest of us. #RandomMusingsOnTech

There seems to be a sudden rise in pro-AI articles from tech media after the debacles of AI in the past weeks. πŸ€” Is this a coordinated attempt at fixing AI's image?

🐧 Planning to move to Linux once I buy myself a new laptop. Thinking of working with a minimal Debian + OpenRC + COSMIC DE install.

Today at work, I found out that we already have an auto-out system after 8 hours. πŸ˜… It's giving "plesh go away now. dont overwork. k tnx bye" energy.

πŸ’ͺ Can't wait for Monday, not for work, but for gym. Time to pump them gains, brothers, and listen to J-Pop and JP girl groups. RAGHHH! (Disclaimer: GIF does not accurately portray my current fitness level. I am a human blob.)

I suppose we'll be starting off 2026 with a contribution to an open source project. For this one, we'll be contributing to Clay. πŸ˜…

Did not expect a "I paid for the whole CPU; I'm gonna use the entire CPU" ahh moment before I started to compile the Qt framework. πŸ’€ May God have mercy on my CPU's cores.

This is disappointing, @jetbrains.com. Very disappointing. I'll still keep my subscription, but I am disappointed. Using our data and potentially exposing our data to training despite intending to opt-out without even some sort of compensation does not sit right with me.

blog.jetbrains.comBetter AI Depends on Better Data: We Need Your Help | The JetBrains BlogTL;DR Over the past few years, AI has made remarkable progress, but it doesn’t always deliver what professional developers need. One key reason is that most models are trained on public datasets th

Hello, SourceHut. πŸŽ‰ Slowly starting to migrate away from GitHub for my personal projects, after Microsoft's decision to put GitHub in the CoreAI team. Time to see how SourceHut goes. πŸ‘€

βš’οΈ I guess I'll be building a Rust game engine, but with the gameplay logic handled by a higher-level language. πŸ€” Now, time to check if I should go for Lua or check out AngelScript.
