Went for a bike ride around D5 with the new NDOT director and not one person screamed or honked at us the whole time. Here’s me showing him where the sidewalk ends on Dickerson.

The bar is in hell, but drivers were polite and attentive this morning, and they actually obeyed NTOR at Greenfield and Gallatin! 👍👍

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Took a stroll down 1st to check out the gameday situation. Very impressive how many people NDOT, WeGo, and the Titans are moving safely at peak demand.

When a worker wears an Amazon vest, drives an Amazon van and delivers on an Amazon-controlled route, but Amazon denies they work for the company — that's exploitation.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

Today, while protecting Palestinians, Brad Lander & a group of American rabbis & others were taken by the IDF. Releasing Brad isn't enough, the Israeli govt must release them all.   If this is how they treat Americans, imagine how they treat Palestinians. Trump & Rubio's silence fuels this impunity.

Head of security at Opry Mills reveals that they use LPR to notify repo companies when mall visitors are behind on their car payments. “3 or 4 people a week” come to him saying their car was stolen when in reality the mall had tipped off the repo company and gotten it taken.

This is obviously horrible for the mall to do to its customers. It raises another question of who all these private LPRs are sharing information with besides repo companies.

Brad is now in IDF custody

On Tuesday afternoon, the Public Safety Committee of Los Angeles City Council finally lived up to its name by recommending a veto on the LAPD-backed contract to partner with Axon, a Flock competitor that sells AI surveillance cameras and drones.

The area used to have low demand for parking. Now it's popular and the city uses meters to induce turnover so drivers can access the businesses there. You can't go back to the low demand, free parking thing. That's like pining for $120K craftsman homes in Cleveland Park. It's over and done.

Reasons why personally-owned AVs would cause VMT to spike: 🔹 People will direct their cars to do stuff w/o them in it 🔹 Longer/congested drives will be less of a pain 🔹 Owners won't have to worry about expensive/difficult parking; just direct the car to wait elsewhere (or circle) More in story ⤵️

bloomberg.comThe AV Future Might Not Be SharedRight now, self-driving cars are used only for shared fleets of autonomous robotaxis. What happens when anyone can buy their own?

Wouldn't all that compressed gas work like the opposite of an airbag in a collision? Seems like it would riddle occupants' bodies and faces with shrapnel -- possibly even bystanders outside the vehicle

My new podcast launches tomorrow. We're starting with what I think is a banger of a first episode about a mostly overlooked incident that really ought to be a factor in one of the major midterm races.

When you have a stroke or heart attack would you like an ambulance to take you to the hospital relatively quickly or nah?

I got a new* phone and only have installed podcasts and youtube. It has been a fantastic digital detox. We’ll see how long I can make it. Still have the old messy one as a wifi thing I can pick up when I want the chaos. *used 12 mini

Washington Post has released series of new polling this morning Perhaps this is the most striking finding:

Many people said it was a bad idea to hold Urban Cycling Worlds in a theocratic, authoritarian country. Many riders refused to attend last year. 2026 UCI Urban Worlds in Saudi Arabia officially cancelled.
