Great! We're taxing hoarding wealth. Maybe we'll get less of it.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

Man, this VisionQuest viral marketing has got to be the weirdest thing coming out of if Marvel movies since Morbius. We're gonna watch it, Disney. You can cool it.

With Trump threatening to rename Lake Ontario, Lake Erie may soon be the only thing keeping Vance from tweeting that HAMAS has surrounded Michigan.

The thing about Platner is, do you think this conduct (Nazi tattoo with a weak excuse, sexual misconduct and abuse allegations, reportedly joining the military because he wanted to kill people) should lead to Republicans turning on electeds? Then it has to be disqualifying for support in a PRIMARY.

The Odyssey - that's the one where the parent sets out on a journey with a bunch of people but then eventually returns home alone, telling their story several times along the way. While they're gone intruders who turn murderous are kept at bay by the one son left at home?

I know people are concerned about this Ring thing, but you have to weigh the benefits. They said a dog a day, that's dozens, maybe hundreds of dogs found an hour sooner. Surely that upside justifies putting us all in perpetual monitoring from everyone's front stoop on top of secret police. /s

When people criticize politically expedient fraud and then say proven fraud is OK it's clear their problem isn't with the fraud. It's with the convenient target. That's what this person is doing by boosting Trump's framing of fraud in Minnesota while ignoring Trump's pardons of Medicaid fraudsters.

I knew many Republicans were doing it for the fringe benefits, not actually believing what they say. But it's still shocking to see so many line up with the idea that a government law enforcement group can just round people up without reasonable suspicion.

I'm sorry, I got riled up like on Twitter. I can believe you meant that and I joined after it had escalated. Please understand that many of those who thought you meant Democrats did so in good faith. Further litigation of that isn't worthy of either of our time. Have a lovely evening!

What IF, crazy as it sounds, the democrats weren’t being attacked? What if I truly meant liberals and you were safe from harm? There was no invisible ink, no catch — just a comment on liberalism. What if that were the case? And you could make it possible by simple believing it?

Fair criticism of my language choice. I should have said is it didn't come with blatant misrepresentations of the criticism. Thank you for the opportunity to correct my improper implications. There's no sign or claim you feared to say "Democrats." That leads me to doubt your earnestness elsewhere.

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

Yes, yes, if only I would adequately refute your assumptions to your satisfaction in a tone of which you approve. This had not occurred to me! Now that it has…no.

Not in colloquial American language, which is what I'm assuming you're using on this platform. Put a different way, you ask why you'd go to such lengths to obscure mentions of Democrats. You didn't. It may have been unintentional, but you used language that heavily implies them. Then gaslit us.

You will notice that none of these sock puppets take issue with me using interdisciplinary, a word that without context specifically means formal schools of knowledge production. They just all chose bipartisan to be democrat avengers. WHO WILL STAND FOR THE DISCIPLINES?!

If you'd like to say you intended "cross-faction" or something, say that. But people who inferred that you meant the two parties when you used that word aren't being unreasonable. Because, as others said, "liberal" as a stand-in for "Democrat" is more common colloquially. bsky.app/profile/tres...

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

I DON’T IMPLY THE TWO FACTIONS. I NAME THEM EXPLICITLY. THEY ARE LIBERALISM AND CONSERVATISM. THERE IS NO NEED TO MAKE AN INFERENCE. THE WORDS MEAN THE THINGS. <— trying this in another dialect.

You call it bipartisan. In this country, when we're talking about policy, that is equivalent to "Republicans and Democrats" unless there are other parties mentioned. By "bipartisan" did you mean Republicans and Libertarians? Which "liberals" did you mean in your other post? That's not weird.

Tressie McMillan Cottom@tressiemcphd.bsky.social

Can anyone explain to me why I would go through so much trouble to obscure a critique of Democrats? How is that easier to argue than it is to believe I meant what I said? That seems hella weird.

I didn't rewatch or anything, but how did he know both sides of the switch were kind of the same color? That said, I thought the bank robbery was a lot of fun. I'm seeing it as a bonus episode on top of an eight episode season. #Daredevil

You are up to date.
