🧵 Come support cleaners fighting for a first contract! Dexterra cleaners at the Canadian Forces Base Shilo east of Brandon, Manitoba formed a union in late July and have been bargaining our first contract with the employer. @mgeu.ca @psacprairies.bsky.social @seiu.org

The Nova Scotia gov't will be paying up to $5K in damages to union members who were impacted by Bill 148, the unconstitutional wage restraint legislation. Victory against Bill 148 and in defense of workers’ right to free and fair collective bargaining! @nsgeu.bsky.social @seiu.org

The approximately 30 workers - groundskeepers, restaurant servers and cooks, and a pro-shop clerk - want to return to work, welcome patrons, and deliver the best possible service. But that requires management to address these concerns and negotiate a fair agreement.

Sign the petition today and tell Nico Wynd Golf Course management to stop attacks on workers’ seniority rights, ensure accurate and timely pay, address workplace bullying and harassment, and offer fair wages that keep up with the cost of living. actionnetwork.org/petitions/te...

Like Mayor West said: “Strong communities are built by frontline workers and the people who clean our facilities, transit stations, and public spaces deserve to be heard.”

As the Chair of the Mayors’ Council, the collective voice of Metro Vancouver mayors on transit and transportation, Brad West has supported cleaners working at the Metro Vancouver SkyTrain system who have had to deal with understaffing and unsafe working conditions.

Dexterra is refusing to offer raises that keep up with cost-of-living increases. We need stable schedules, not last-minute changes and overtime demands.

We've reached an impasse at negotiations so now it's time for an info picket ("practice picket") to show our solidarity with one another and inform other workers about our ongoing fight!

For the past week and a half, @seiulocal2.bsky.social members at Nico Wynd Golf in Surrey have been on the picket line. #BCLab

We’re on the picket lines because management continues being unreasonable on several important and surprisingly basic fronts. We will stay on the picket lines over seniority rights, unpaid wages, and harassment! @bcfed.bsky.social @canadianlabour.bsky.social @seiu.org

In fact, paychecks are consistently late and often short. Management's refusal to fix the issue is one of the key reasons for the strike. Workers were supposed to get paid this morning for hours worked before the strike started ... but you'll never guess what happened.

We took part in the inspiring and first-ever SEIU Asian Pacific Islander Summit in Saskatoon. Give this a watch to see how we contributed with a theme important to us: migrant worker rights. Solidarity! @seiu.org

Today, instead of working to end the strike and get back to negotiations, Nico Wynd management has threatened to cut us off our medical benefits -- something they don't have the power to do because we have union controlled benefits!

🧵 We were outside the office of Terry Beech, Liberal Party MP for Burnaby North-Seymour, alongside our labour allies. The federal government is dangerously proposing legislation to restrict legal strikes through Bill C-39.
