i was about to say "I HATE BÉZIER CURVES" on here while i was vectorizing stuff on inkscape then this shows up on my feed

I changed the way I work a couple of months ago to follow this advice, it made a big difference and my productivity went up by miles. (I don't know who made this image, if you do, let me know so they can be credited)

ok i get there's a massive surge of AI scrapers trashing out sites but why cloudflare?? they're very privacy unfriendly and if y'all really want to stop scrapers try using anubis since at least that one is open source and is easy to reimplement

WELL I TAKE BACK WHAT I'VE SAID the driver doesn't work for some reason, any attempt to initialize it will just give an Aborted (core dumped) signal for some reason (coming from libgmm according to GDB),

i've noticed there's a hybrid driver on linux for old intel gpus that can do vp9 decoding, i've installed it and now i can finally watch YT in 4K without my computer screaming for mercy :D

and the only reason why i've said the performance was better is because for some odd reason 4K playback on MPV is very slow when --vo=gpu is set, --vo=gpu-next works WAY better also yeah, the hybrid driver don't explicitly mention skylake, tho i assumed it would still work since mentions older

but it still sucks considering it's reported to work on those GPUs :( also btw when i said firefox was working faster i've also noticed that it does try to ini the VP9 driver but fails and uses the FFmpeg decoder as a fallback instead

for some reason YouTube only provides videos beyond 1080p with non-H.264 codecs, like VP9 and AV1 my CPU is an core i3-6006U based on the Skylake microarchitecture, which while it can do VP8 decoding, it can't do VP9 at all

so apparently this driver (intel-hybrid-codec-driver and libva-intel-driver-hybrid both on the AUR) seems to implement VP9 decoding with some shader trickery, which makes intel_gpu_top display usage from the 3D part rather than video this almost feels like black magic tbh

being more specific with my previous post is there, like, a good lossless compressed video codec i got really good results with a matroska RGBA+FLAC combo compressed with LZMA, though ffmpeg (nor any video player) can't handle such files natively AFAIK :(

ran into one of those classic "fake video files that are actually just an exe" files but for the minecraft movie today (yes they still do this), unfortunately its nothing exciting, just another generic info stealer that grabs stuff from shit like ur browser

this is a certified youtube moment i sometimes wonder why are they going against adblockers right now even after multiple years of existing

cobalt@cobalt.tools

youtube’s been testing various ways of limiting access, both for downloaders and real users with adblockers most fucked up experiment being forced DRM for ALL videos, even those that are licensed as CC: github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dl... feels like it will only get worse from now on 🫠

if anyone uses the Redirector extension, you could use this regex pattern: ^https?://go\.bsky\.app/redirect\?u=(.*) Redirect to $1 Pattern type "Regular expression" Advanced options>Process matches: "URL decode"

Mi siguiente rant será sobre la nueva campaña de macdonalds con Miku, el genocidio en Gaza, el hitazo del año pasado, Mesmerizer y Baudrillard. Perdón pero estoy enojado.

windows 3.1 with proper video drivers is crazy for the longest time i've only really used it under hypervisors like vmware and virtualbox, though right now i just set it up on DOSBox-X and omg 768p resolution with higher than 16 colors???
