Just had politician canvassing at my door. I asked: “What are your goals?” and “How many millions in a billion?” First question is obviously relevant. The second less so, but often the most telling, as they are handling millions and billions of our dollars.

Once a year I grab some of Washington’s best apples, set aside five hours of my day, and make this bomb Diggity ass SALTED CARAMEL APPLE PIE And to take the Autumn up a notch, serve it with local pumpkin ice cream This year the pie looks terrible, but the flavor is second to none

When you die, if you get a choice between regular heaven, and pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it's not - mmmm-boy!

I was got GOOD at work Me: [ trying to take employee photo in a busy area] Haha, I’ll do my best, you’re a lot taller than me. Observer: Isn’t everyone? 🤣 BONUS Random guy: Ooh, you get paid enough for her to talk to you like that??

Was gonna have a nice relaxing Saturday, have a friend over, make some bread. But in the last 12 hours he got a third-degree oil burn across his right arm, and a 30-foot tree branch fell on my house. We are both fine, but damn.

It was cool the CEO swung by today to tell me I had done “a GREAT job with [ task ]” It was better when a random old dude was like “Someday… you’ll be 40!” 🤣

Don’t let the argument against these changes live in people’s minds and be the final word. Mass transit benefits everyone!

Bus travel times are up to three times faster along a troublesome stretch of Denny Way after SDOT installed red bus lanes all the way to I-5. On Tuesday, Mayor Katie Wilson joined transit fans for a reprise of last year's 'Race the L8'. Story: www.theurbanist.org/metro-prevai...

Trump Admin Unveils Femicide- Based Healthcare Plan for Women

DarkSideRahb@darksiderahb.bsky.social

The only treatment for an ectopic pregnancy is an abortion, which is why it's fucking healthcare. I wish ultra-maha morons would understand this and worry as much about living, breathing women as they worry about a fetus that will never survive the pregnancy. www.propublica.org/article/ecto...

🎶Millions of peaches Peaches for me And now I’m trying to find a good recipe for cobbler with a crumble topping that doesn’t suck

John Carpenter‘s The Thing is a much more powerful, curious, and titillating who-done-it than Knives Out. I will not be taking questions at this time

I think that the people who review things like cauliflower hash browns and yolkless egg bites have gone so long without eating normal food that they have lost their frame of reference for what constitutes "good"

From today’s “are you fucking kidding me” file: 1 There’s a Snapchat account called Sufjan AI, and there’s no one I would less like to be friends with 2 Jimothy door hinges?! Damn Etsy, you really are on it

I completed what I would consider my first “real painting.” It’s a photograph I took of Waikiki Beach, converted into a paint by numbers as a base. I’ve been picking at it changing colors and adding things for a couple months now. It’ll never be “done,” but I have it in my office at work now :)

Not that anyone remembers, but a few months ago I posted a video of an unidentified animal lumbering across our front lawn at night. It was like a raccoon, but definitely not shaped like one. Too round and a short tail. No one was able to ID it, but consensus held it was likely a raccoon. 1/2

I’m not sure which is less likely: that Jimothy made his way from Snohomish county to Ballard, or that there’s another raccoon nearby with the same spinal deformity? 🤔 2/2

This meal was a real… banger Seattle dogs with Parmesan mashed potatoes, onion gravy, mushed peas, and a nice local Syrah (not shown, in my belly)

Smoked a butt-ton of chicken wings to absolute perfection 🤤 2🍸 , 2 🍺 , 2 🥣 (per day) Finished my painting 🖼️ Got new furniture (!) 🛋️ Had a picnic of fig and brie while watching the Bremerton fireworks 🎆 across the water. You know, typical 4th of July weekend stuff

Today had its wins and losses. Win: co-worker gifted me a grabber thingy after learning i had gone so long at my height without one Loss: my new nails 😢

Being touched in non public area by strangers Listening to an acoustic cover of n*sync Wine at 10am All things I dislike yet come together at the nail salon Sunday morning

Small Pride Month rant: I consider myself an ally, with the majority of my friends being “queer” (in their own terms.) I’m a public-facing front desk receptionist. I always display a pride flag at my desk. Last Saturday when I was not there, some bigot stole my flag off my desk. How pathetic.

When you don’t clean your glasses off all the way and it adds this 1980s glamour shots kind of mist to everything.

Recent delicious meals that photograph well: 1 steak and spinach tartines with zucchini 2 mussels steamed with herbs and wine, garlic toast 3 Dutch baby with smoked salmon, crème fraiche and sweet onions 4 morel fettuccine with butter, smoked chicken thigh

This isn’t a great photo but it drives home the idea that my 5th and 45th birthday had the same theme: pink and sparkly and unicorns and stuff. I already ate all the cake (strawberry champagne) and just left the pink buttercream. 😅

I asked google “what happens when a woman turns 45” and not only are the answers VERY telling about how we view and value women, but it devolves down a looks-as-value based rabbit hole pretty quickly All I know is women fall off the charts in dating apps in what men look for, generally 18 to 44 😭
