the agony of store-baked cookies is that randomly you will buy from a batch that is completely perfect in every way, you will eat them too fast, and then the next time you go to buy more you'll get the batch made by the bakery employee who still mixes up teaspoons and tablespoons

Came to Dietrich route for tasty Three Houses lore Stayed for an extremely well-done & queer exploration of the Blood Knight archetype. A man lives for battle against the strong, but is it because he truly only feels alive on a knife's edge, or does the thought of living scare him more than death?

"fantasy JRPG that's actually a post-apocalyptic Earth or Earth-like setting" is a trope that's been used since like the 90's, and yet it still hasn't worn itself thin somehow.

playing the first 2 hours of Dietrich's route in Fortune's Weave as a Three Houses lorehead feels like getting on a roller coaster expecting a wild ride and getting launched off the rails AT THE FIRST FUCKING TURN

ignoring the fact that Mr. Alucard Laminevania is canonically considered fuckable by his friends and enemies, the amount of absolutely insane shit that Fabio spouts in every scene is astounding We're getting deep lore from 3H explained that previously only existed as 1/2 lines from a throwaway NPC

Really funny watching people (myself included) realize that MGS4 actually has *even less* gameplay than they remember. The Tactical Espionage Action in some chapters is barely more than 1-3 rooms lmao

There's something in there narratively about the wanton excess of having as many Officially Licensed weapons as the entirety of the Modern Warfare Trilogy only for you to autoequip the M4/Operator for those 5 hours of gameplay... But just because it's thematic doesn't mean it's not a bad beat.

Sure, his shelved movie finally made it to theaters, but when are we getting the uncensored cut? 🍑

Y'know, it's kinda shocking how little of Earthbound/Mother 3's mechanics are replicated by games that are inspired by the series. Rolling HP and especially the Rhythm Battle system are both banger mechanics that I never see crop up anywhere and it's a bit of a shame

Not a criticism, it just feels noticeable given that Three Houses was pretty openly influenced by IntSys's close relationship with ATLUS. The calendar system and school setting are very clearly Persona-esque, while the late-game unveiling a race of underground demon-humans with nukes is just SMT IV

I say this because I love y'all, but a lot of furry artists (even the big ones) haven't built up the discipline to do art as a primary job. It's frustrating because I'm always supportive when things happen, but it's hard not to notice that any stressful or adverse event leads to a bunch of art block

give me your hottest furry take

I really wish more of our mentors emphasized the importance of building up a creative process that is able to function under the strain of life shit. I see too many talented artists become paralyzed under the weight of their own queue bc 1 bad week equals a feedback loop of dysfunctional process.

if i'm being so for real i think we might have to confront the idea that that KH boxart might not be AI it just organically kinda sucks ass

Same deal with having an unpopular take on a piece of media until a respected content creator, journalist or writer says pretty much the same thing, and now everyone is on board.

something i've learned in my time online is that calling something/having been right about something a significant time before the predicted outcome doesn't actually earn you much social credit. by the time it happens, people have forgotten you called it. if you remind them, they shrug. so...

Ex. Magic released Outlaws of Thunder Junction, a set based on cowboys, and vowed to avoid repeating racist colonialist tropes by... saying the setting was Terra Nullius; itself a racist, colonialist trope.

I watched in real time as a member of several MtG communities as articles written by Indigenous writers calling this out were ridiculed and accused of inventing problems to be mad about. Then Spice8Rack said it, and suddenly, this was the cool and based take to have about the set.

"The Switch is so old," you all said. "I need better graphics," you demanded. "Wah wah," you cried. And now, you sit here before Slippy Toad, the slippiest he's ever been, slippier than a fucking banana peel under a kart wheel, all thanks to the raw power of the Nintendo Switch 2—and you reject him?

I haven't posted much about Marathon because I've been busy moving, but I'm genuinely so done with the way social media is trying to turn this into the next Concord. Yes, the game is struggling and the development was messy. You know what separates that from Concord? Marathon actually has the sauce

I've put over 200 hours into Season 1. I haven't played multiplayer FPS games since CoD Ghosts, I'm playing on a PS5 controller on a sub-1 Gigabit per second wifi connection. I should not be in the demographic for this game and it still slaps because Bungie's gamefeel is bar none.

"Listen, if we make the Star Fox guys look like fucked-up feral muppets, surely people on the internet will stop drawing them with cocks the size of skyscrapers," a Nintendo executive said, with Babylonian hubris.

As fun as Marathin has been for the last month and a half I feel like the biggest problems I have with the game would be solved with the addition of a firing range for the gear in your vault and loading screen tips for shit like... I dunno, holding the grenade button lets you see it's trajectory
