I’m excited to announce that I will be opening commissions for this Winter. Because this is my first time opening commissions, I will have only 3 slots open, at least for now. As always, if you’re interested, feel free to reach out in messages or shoot me an email.
:)
Happy #MosasaurMonday from Walker, the first Mosasaurus I ever completely restored from Kansas
From the Weskan Formation, it is the earliest member of the genus. This cast copy now resides in Japan, 28 feet long and full of teeth
Pteranodon sternbergi
Pencil on Moleskine sketchbook paper, approx 128 x 208 mm.
Another study from 2018 which was originally intended for a book I’ve been trying to work on for the past few years and which I would approach differently now.
Available via @everydayoriginal.bsky.social.
Happy #FossilFriday from Megalocoelacanthus dobeii, a giant (3m/10ft) coelacanth from the Niobrara Chalk in Kansas. I discovered the 2nd specimen ever from the formation in 2007 and donated it to the Sternberg Museum to be published on.
I better finish that manuscript soon. 🧪
My talk at #GSAConnects2026 isn't till Wednesday (New Advances in Mesozoic paleo, last one before lunch talking weird KS fish poo) but since our museum is just 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs, hit me up if you're attending and you'd like to set up a tour, especially on Monday (field trip day)
Today's four random pieces of palaeoart:
Tim Bradley's Abelisaurus, Bernard Long's Paranthropus, Petr Modlitba's Dimetrodon, and John Sibbick's Deinonychus!
Getting Willie out on display, replacing the stupid Xiphactinus. Willie has massive shark bite marks on its lower jaw. A result of getting scavenged after death.
This is a large Plesioplatecarpus from the liwer Niobrara chalk of western Kansas. 86.5 million years old.
✨Meet Rogue✨
Rogue is pretty much always with Willow. He's not a fan of clutter, keeping his space clean and tidy. When it comes to snacks, he's not picky or remotely hesitant. Rogue can often be seen swimming, dreaming about swimming, or enjoying some time in the sun to dry out from swimming.
Orcinus amongst the Lemons
Meet Thoraxion tahlequahae, a newly described genus of mosasaur from Late Cretaceous Belgium.
The species name of Thoraxion, tahlequahae, was named in honor of a particular Orca named Tahlequah (J35).

IMO, there's still a huge disconnect between how the public perceives natural history museums and the prestige surrounding them, and the actual economics of sustaining them.
Hadrosaurus, Platecarpus, and Chasmosaurus. All are from Academy of Natural Sciences and they need your help. The Museum is approaching its closure and the last thing we want is a historic museum to be lost forever.
#SaveANSP
Wings of the Pacific
Megapterygius wakayamaensis, a mosasaurine mosasaur, breaching off of the open ocean of Late Cretaceous Japan.

Archelon was the largest sea turtle of all time, growing to be the size of a car! Its fossils are found in deposits linked to the Western Interior Sea in South Dakota. More paleoart coming soon!

Attention Philadelphia!
We're hosting a rally to demand that Drexel University maintain The Academy of Natural Sciences Museum open to the public.
Join us on Tuesday morning at 10am in front of the academy. Please spread the word, we need all hands on deck!

I got a one-off print of this early piece of #paleoart of mine, “A Cold Day Out” featuring a mother Albertosaurus and her chicks out on a winter’s day wander:

This.
I encourage people to share their online stores in the #SciArt Feed because I've so many artists assume they shouldn't.
Barked at a guy back in the early days who said the SciArt Feed should be "pure" and "not commercial".
Hellz no. Artists, go get that cheddah.
Frightful Fate
Daspletosaurus torosus hunting a young Corythosaurus. Don't worry, as long as this takes place in the Surviving Earth Universe, the young Corythosaurus will have baby plot armor.
#Paleoart#sciart
Osorioichthys marginis, a ray-finned fish from the early Devonian from Belgium. In 1997, Taverne suggested that the genus could actually be from a less saline environment due to the abrasion seen on the specimen though I don't know the consensus on that. #sciart#paleoart
Utah Grim Reaper
Utahraptor ostrommaysi enjoying a slice of Hippodraco, taking place in early Cretaceous Utah, 135 million years ago.
#Dinosaur#raptor#Utahraptor#paleoart
Doli’s Blue World
Dolichorhynchops mother and calf, along with a school of Apsopelix and a pair of Clioscaphites in the background. All of which are residents of the Western Interior Seaway, 85 million years ago.

King in Black
A few weeks late but here’s a Tylosaurus rex life reconstruction . Huge congrats to @tyrantlzrdqueen.bsky.social and her team on publishing the work on the king of the seaway.

Happy National Dinosaur Day! Moby turns 5 this year in November, but I couldn’t help having him be front and center on this blessed day. Made from spare turkey and pitbull DNA alongside his majority T. rex, Moby was a beloved dinosaur for years.

We are excited to announce a fourth new subspecies of Tylosaurus in Path of Titans, Tylosaurus Rex!
Check out the interview with Amelia Zietlow, one of the amazing paleontologists who have described this new species of Tylosaurus!

Mike Burns, paleontologist at Jacksonville State University, who worked on ankylosaurs, passed last week. I knew Mike, travelled with him and took him in the field. A nice and funny man who was way too young and will be missed! #paleontologyproze.jsu.edu/u/lp/employe...
