Repaired and installed a necessary kitchen appliance today. (Full tube swap) Have a pi hooked up that shuffles a playlist of curated cartoon shows.

More pics. It's on a swivel mount, and can easily be removed. I plan to run a number of playlists on various analog tv channels via closed circuit RF through the coax in my house; until I finish getting that set up, I'm running the Nickelodeon playlist via composite

Alright y'all, I'm gonna try it. Ubuntu Linux on a Thinkpad T480s as my primary laptop. Never really used Linux before. Time to find out if this is the year of the Linux laptop.

Found these adorable little bootlegos at Walmart for $8 each. A few cursed building techniques, but overall not bad for the price. They are called "Zuru MAX Retro Collection". They are in these orb things that look like gachas, but which one you get is clearly labeled on it.

I had the privilege of beta testing Gatling Tommy's "Mother of All Blasters" kit. The MOAB fires 50 nerf darts per second (yes, 3000rpm) using its 6 rotating barrels, from a 500 round backpack. More info 🧵

The whole kit is extremely well thought out. The build process takes a number of hours, but it was genuinely fun and well explained. The build was surprisingly easier and more straightforward than I expected. The 3 milestones helped chop it up into 3 evenings of assembly.

His kickstarter page has more info. I have wanted an m134 dtyle5 blaster like this to exist since I was a teenager, so I'm absolutely thrilled it's finally a thing. I can vouch this thing is seriously the real deal. Highly recommend checking it out. www.kickstarter.com/projects/gat...

The mechanics inside operate like a real m134 minigun, complete with a shell delinking and ejection system. It has 6 rotating independent firing mechanisms on a rotating cam, just like the real deal. The engineering on this thing is absolutely insane.

Thanks to the efforts of the DFW retro computing community, I will be showcasing the mythical KX-45ED1 at Vintage Computer SouthWest in Dallas this weekend. Hope to see you there!

Fun first day at VCF in Dallas. Lots of people showed up and stopped by. Looking forward to seeing more faces this weekend. I'll be there all day tomorrow (Saturday), as well as Sunday afternoon. Hope to have someone to keep the TV running while I'm absent Sunday morning!

Made a second-channel video going over the project, showing it working, and explaining updates and progress. youtu.be/WP54d7D57Aw

I ordered 3. Not even joking.

It's our pleasure to introduce two new watches that closely follow the original Pebble DNA. Both are available for pre-order starting today. - Core 2 Duo: black/white display, $149, ships in July - Core Time 2: 64 colour display, $225, ships in Dec Pre-order today at store.rePebble.com

It's still crazy to me that nobody has developed a GBA e-reader "flash cart" style ROM hack of the e-reader ROM where you can pop up a menu to select from a list of "cards" on your SD card to have the e-reader "scan". Would make lots of obscure content way more accessible.

Tonight I attempted a method to add fake scanlines to lumadoub using only i2c commands to try to turn the DACs on and off every line. Nope, not gonna happen. It's just not fast enough. Guess I'll have to explore other methods that involve additional components.

The dev board i designed has a lot going on for me to really test out as much as I can out of these chips. But the core of the circuit is these 2 chips in this rectangle: The ADV7280A and the ADV7391. Doesn't need much else than an MCU, voltage regs, and video input/output

For those interested in more details, I have been and will continue to document this in more detail on my worklog here. No release/completion ETA, as I still have a ways to go. I'm just excited about this and wanted to share. bitbuilt.net/forums/index...

Current challenges: ❓480p line doubled output works but currently looks like butt and thinks 240p is 480i ❓Need to implement detection for 240p cause some stuff like N64 makes it big angry without manually toggles ❓Gotta figure out how the line doubled smoothing filters work.

Been working on and off on this project for a few months with my GF, who is a software dev. Once we are done, our plan is to open source it to give the many scenes (that utilize analog video) a circuit and software toolkit to make some some really cool stuff.

Packed a duffle of stupid dongles, dropping them off at the post office tomorrow. No longer taking stupid dongle orders through DMs, but will have details on the next batch soon!

Technical details: -15v power sink, as 12v is deprecated, can't provide enough power, and 15v is within the rated spec -Metal connector, 3d printed threaded cap -zero glue used for assembly -tested with 8044q, 5041q and D9 -D9 power draw is 2.9a @ 15v -Does not work w/ lke 1005r

Any intellectual property or trademark lawyers out there willing to chat and offer me some guidance? I have an absurd idea I want to pursue, but want to make sure it's reasonably achievable before I start burning money trying to make it happen.

This image is also CCBYSA 4.0. Apologies for the spam, seems bluesky lets me upload as many attachments as you want, but only attaches up to 4 to the post

It was mind-bogglingly frustrating tho. The chassis is super finicky. All video wires MUST be shielded, run along the same path as the video traces, and be connected directly to the video ground pin, or you get some really intense video interference. Took me days to troubleshoot.

Looking for someone who owns an NEC XP29 plus to test something for me. Specifically the xp, specifically the 29, specifically the plus. I need a dump of the EEPROM to test something. Will buy you the hardware to dump it and walk you through it. I have safely dumped my XM29+ eeprom multiple times

Specifically, all I need is an EEPROM dump of the XP29+ to analyze the data. I will not need you to tamper with yours or do anything risky to your monitor. I want to better understand the EEPROM's data structure, and need more dumps to do so. Could benefit all NEC xm/xp owners if my hunch is right
