I’m not a model trans. I’m not here to be innocent or appealing or whatever the fuck. I’m here to be myself, and I hope to god that weeds out the fuckers that only care to listen to the polite and the palatable.

I followed the US Dept of Labor on here last year when it was posting useful pro-worker info and education. It’s so sad to see the account coopted into just another mouthpiece for the administration’s white supremacist, fascist rhetoric.

All I’m saying is The Powerpuff girls are made from sugar, spice, and everything nice plus some random ass chemical X and nobody tells them they’re not allowed to use the ladies bathroom. They’re biologically a sentient breakfast cereal but SURE act like I’m the problem.

This article just chilled me to my bones, immediately after leaving a show on a country-wide, 50 state, all-trans comedy tour, where I got to do a guest set in front of a very queer audience. It was beautiful. Please read this article, because we need to understand what's happening in DC,

Laura Jedeed@laurajedeed.bsky.social

The thing that disturbs me most about DC isn't the military pageantry or even the bursts of federal violence. It's the emptiness. The strange, dead silence. People should not be afraid to come to America's capital, see the sights, and have dinner afterwards They didn't used to be. They are now.

Hey so just fyi, if you're abandoning trans rights you're abandoning all civil rights At that point what the fuck is the point of the democracy you're willing to sacrifice trans people for This actually isn't hard at all, quit making it pretend hard because you finally feel scared too

“States are creating pharmaceutical stockpiles, climate agreements, immigration policies. […] They’re building functioning governmental systems that operate independently of federal authority. […] The federal government becomes a hollow structure that states have a moral impreative to ignore.”

Joshua J. Friedman@joshuajfriedman.com

"Twenty-three Democratic attorneys general now gather on near-daily Zoom calls at 8 AM Pacific, which means the East Coast officials are already on their third coffee. They divide responsibilities and share templates for lawsuits they’ve been drafting since last spring."

Consultants are obsessed with reminding candidates not to talk about trans people or include us in any way in their campaigns, never mind using awkward-ass linguistic constructions like this, meanwhile my reps have never once mentioned I exist even when opposing bills that directly threaten my life.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

i consume an extraordinary amount of political content and i have never seen someone in elected office use the term "birthing people"

Anyway inclusive language could be, depending on context, something like “people who could get pregnant,” or hell even “birthing parents” would be less weird. Idk I’m not a fan of “birthing” but I can’t think of another good descriptor. “Mothers and other carrying parents” maybe.

i don't know who needs to hear this but if you know you're trans and the dysphoria grates you like sandpaper there is medication that will help and you can just start what have you got to lose? what if you would be happier? you deserve to know.

We’re 3 years out from the next election. Why the FUCK are all the Resistor libs already insisting we lie back and take an anti-trans candidate when they could be using that energy over the next 2 years to pressure democratic leaders to do fucking better?

I know why. It’s because they’re scared, and it’s a hell of a lot easier to berate a persecuted minority than it is to push back against a powerful system. It lets them maintain a feeling of self-righteousness and a sense of control they wouldn’t have if they aimed their ire up instead of down.

“We can’t control who the party nominates or whether bigots will vote blue, but maybe we can bully a minority within our party to vote against their interests because the alternative would be worse.” Defeatist-ass attitude. Stop fighting us. Fight for us and with us or get out of the way.

This is why it makes me laugh when ever Bluesky opens the suggestion box with posts "what would you like to see fellow friends?" FUCK. YOU. We wanna see this shit not happening. Trans and Black and disabled people and sex workers and all the queers made this place cool and the bsky team hates them

if you havent made any calls, or shipped any letters or sent any emails yet, and you feel like its "too late": dont. its not too late. now is literally a perfect time to start joining in and contacting legislators and paypros in whatever way works best for you. its a marathon, not a race!

the haver of it🔞@taylortitmouse.bsky.social

for those of you that have somehow made it this long without ever calling: you literally just have to list the bills. you don't have to give a reason. if you get a person, they won't ask you why. if you get a voicemail, just say your address at the beginning. it took me less than 5 minutes to call 3

Having a script explaining your reasons is neat but it’s not necessary. Mostly it’s a numbers game, and just saying “I’m a constituent at [zip code] and I oppose [bill]” is literally all you really need!

personally i go to 5calls because they make it really easy to see your reps' numbers, and yeah if you go to voicemail you can literally just say 'i'm a constituent at X and i'm going to list off a bunch of bills i want [rep] to oppose' and then you list it. you can do that if you get a person too

Here's a thread about how trans people can approach remaining informed of the news in a way that prioritizes pragmatism, self-care, and building resistance. It's based on what I'm doing personally. So, fyi, I'm more anxious than usual, but holding up substantially.

I know that there is a lot of panic, and I feel it too. But I continually remind myself: My panic serves the people who want to harm me. I am here. I am safe. I am doing my best to plan for my own survival and be of service my community. And then I calm down and get back to it.

OK, so you're taking in news relevant to your survival, you're making practical plans rather than panicking, you're doing your best to stay grounded. Next: What does your community need? How can you support and be supported? National news is useless here. Set it aside. Be there for other people.

I incorporate a decent amount of mindfulness and grounding in my day to day. I feel my feet on the ground or my butt in my seat. I slow down and focus just on making dinner or just doing dishes. I remind myself that I am here, I am not off floating in panic and headlines. It helps quite a bit.

If you are safe, remind yourself that you are safe. If you're scared of things that might happen, remind yourself they haven't happened. Make plans, to the best of your ability, but don't forget that you're here, you're okay, you are surviving and you intend to continue.
