As an American-born, half-Iranian woman who lived in Tehran for 3 years before the revolution, I am no stranger to feeling sick to my stomach about activities in Iran. I have always sided with the U.S. The Iranian people would love to overthrow the Islamic regime. 1/

And remember, it's not just Iran who can retaliate. Hezbollah, Hamas, all of Iran's proxies, can attack Americans throughout the middle east. And what side will Russia take? Iran has helped Russia with their invasion of Ukraine. I am sick with worry. /End

Things are not black and white over there. I maintain Bibi played Trump like a fiddle. I believe Israel has a right to exist and a right to self defense. Israel's strikes on Iran didn't seem to be self-defense as we usually define it. And they forced Trump's hand which wasn't hard to do. 3/

Now we hope that the mullahs will not escalate. Saving face is a big deal for them. But much like Trump's pretend tariff wins, they have a history of meh retaliation that they trump up at home. (Who knew "trump up" would be so on-the-nose?) 4/

But the US doesn't have a good track record with regime change. In 1953, our CIA overthrew the democratically elected govt in Iran, and re-installed the shah because he would play nice on oil prices. Until he didn't. Iranians believe we could have prevented the revolution and chose not to. 2/

Israel-Iran is a bigger international crisis than any Trump faced in his first term. And that administration had people with high level national security experience in some senior positions, while the current one does not, that’s true.

Hard to overstate the degree to which there appears to be literally no one in the president's current circle who has any experience, even at a low level, managing ANY kind of national security crisis or even situation. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/thoug...

It is objectively wild but also completely and totally expected and incredibly unsurprising that Trump’s primary response publicly and behind the scenes to the Minnesota political violence and killing has been for days just to effusively trash talk governor Walz www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Five hotels in ten days. Our son got really good at transport and packing up the car. Once again, EVs are easy! Thanks to Hyundai's free charging program, our energy cost was virtually zero (we only paid once for a charge). Just over 1500 miles!

Can someone please ask Karoline Leavitt why the Director of White House Personnel refuses to say what country he is from and refuses to complete paperwork for a background check? Can you also ask if “Sergio Gor” is the name on his birth certificate. Seems kinda important.

"Hotel California" just came on in our road trip playlist and I had a flashback to hearing it on a road trip when I was a kid living in Tehran. The neighborhood we lived in is very close to one of the bombing locations.

This behavior is inhumane and unnecessary. Being undocumented is a civil offense, like a parking ticket. Deportation without due process is a huge overreach. When Trump said they were only taking those with criminal records, he lied.

The deal Obama made forced Iran to slow its nuclear program to a crawl then Trump undid it and they were off to the races. I have family in Tehran. I'm waiting to hear if they're ok. The mullahs are dangerous and Cheetolini gave them the opening they wanted. I'm furious.

In Iran, the crazy mullahs are making it illegal to walk your dog. Dogs are considered unclean in their interpretation of Islam. When I lived there, nobody had pets but now lots of people do. People will be warned once, then have their dogs confiscated.

This road trip is mostly a journey to Chicago to see some Cubs games and no baseball trip would be complete without a stop at the Louisville Slugger factory and museum. Got a little then and now photo from when we were here 10 years ago. Highly recommend if you're in town.

I did not know that ESPN The Ocho was a real thing. I only knew it from "Dodgeball" but apparently, that's what inspired it! Unless Google AI is trash, which I don't care to figure that out cuz I'm entertained.

In the last race of the day, there was a horse named "The Lincoln Highway." That's also the name of one of my favorite contemporary fiction books. It was a long shot but I placed the $2 sentimental bet and damn, if that horse didn't make a run for it, but alas, it didn't finish in the money today.
