if the pay range for your "SRE III" role at a bank with $3.7T AUM is $65,000 (about a 50% variance), and the other train is approaching at 75 kilometers per mm^2 from the east.... why does no one want to work anymore?

Recruiter: *calls 3x from random numbers, no message* Recruiter: *sends guilt-trip email* Me: "what's the comp?" Recruiter: "somewhere between $130k and $195k" Me: "that's a $65k range" Recruiter: "yes" this is why people ghost interviews

I want your most cursed password requirements. I'll go first: Password complexity requirements are evaluated only at the first N prime-numbered character positions in the password, where N is the smallest prime greater than the number of distinct characters in the password itself.

my goal in life is to make people search "<weird abbreviation containing slashes> meaning tech 2026" each and every time they interact with me

Meanwhile I'm over here announcing my own /36 via BGP, running NAT66 failover on my WG tunnels, and building anycast infra across continents -- all on IPv6. The bugs are real, the pain is real, but the answer is moar v6, not less. Come to the dark side Jeff, we have 128-bits and no NAT hairpinning.

Today I disabled IPv6 on my home router entirely. There are (sadly) too many devices and services with obscure bugs when it's enabled, and I'm tired of playing whack-a-mole sysadmin just to keep a full IPv6 stack. I'm not sure we'll ever see full IPv6 adoption.

IPv6 is a mess but it's our mess and it's the only path where "run your own anycast from home" is a sentence that makes sense.

I feel like it can't be coincidence that the front console of my Chevy Bolt perfectly fits my 50W mobile radio...

NASA can talk to astronauts in space but we can't do Simplex comms to a boat 20m away. Thats RF in a nutshell.

Telia Carrier can change their name as many times as they want. I'll always be able to spot them fucking my overseas connections.

if you guys spent half as much time on code review as you do on harassing random open source maintainers with pure vitriol then any concern you have about security would be obviated.

This post is unavailable.

Pro tip: Use GitHub for software development so you too can spend time reviewing a change for a client and then have GitHub lose all your pending comments because they don't know how to use computers.
