This is the first story in Curious Events Occurring in this Neighbourhood. It’s so good that I paused reading the rest of the book so my partner could read it, and now you can, too, for free!

I've taken the paywall off this story I wrote for my latest book. It's called Letter From Badger. Unsurprisingly, it's a letter, from a badger. I hope a few of you might get the chance to have a read of it. tomcox.substack.com/p/letter-fro...

Picked up the Fabric presents Max Cooper comp for Bandcamp Friday, and listening to the continuous mix version I’ve got to say the mix of Honey by Oliver Coates into Obscura by Phase is just so amazingly beautiful, bloody tears in the eyes while cleaning the bathroom goddamn it!

The CFP is open for 10 more days. So far, I have only 11 submissions, but I need at least 24. So, please share your ideas! First-time authors are very welcome!

I’ve voted- handy guide in this thread if you don’t want to use the “quick vote” feature

Oh blimey, here we go again. Time to vote in the National Trust AGM to keep so-called 'Restore Trust' off the council. Use the quick vote to ensure we don't split the anti-Restore vote. Or.... 1/2 www.nationaltrust.org.uk/who-we-are/a...

Spent the weekend in London and saw 3 exhibitions- MC Escher at Somerset House (v busy but well curated, just so much fun), Anish Kapoor at Somerset House (mind blowing, immense) and Schiaparelli at the V&A (fascinating). all delightful, my cup is now full! Life can be good 😊

The tech that young ppl generally embrace is stuff that helps them rebel, allows greater self-expressivity, creates a shared generational vernacular. AI ain't it. In fact AI corrals new thinking into stale, billionaire-owned algorithmic patterns that are the opposite. futurism.com/artificial-i...

I’m currently reading a collection of HP Lovecraft stories I picked up on holiday earlier in the year. Next one is Call of Cthulhu… but do I read that as it might have spoilers for the next series of the Lovecraft Investigations, which I’ve backed and am really looking forwards to? 🤔

A couple of people are no longer able to attend Pixel Pioneers on Friday and would like to gift their ticket to someone who would otherwise not be able to join us. 👉 First come, first served: Reply here, or email us, and tell us why you need to be at Pixel Pioneers!

I finished watching the Alien Autopsy Scandal last night (Sky/Now Tv). The characters are what makes it- some really interesting people, very much enjoyed the story unfolding!

I made a little MPE sketch for Escher, a mucic meetup I go to. It sounded Ok so I built it out into a full(ish) track- it’s up on my Soundcloud now. I’m probably not going to do more of these though- it’s way too much work drawing the curves and super easy to get lost! #music

Oh sad news! Such a hard hitting public information film. I sampled it a couple of years ago for one of my Halloween tracks. Rest in peace, Jeff

Some sad news to report, I'm afraid... Jeff Grant, the director of legendary public information film Lonely Water, died on 13 March. He fought to include the film's horror elements, and they proved so successful that it opened the door to the shocking PIFs that we know and love. (1/2)

Really been enjoying The Beast in Me on Netflix — fantastic performances from Clare Danes and Matthew Rhys. However last night’s episode (5) had such an unlikely phone-related plot device that surely could have been resolved in a more believable way. A bit disappointed tbh!

Ah man. A true legend, this is really sad news

There’s a scene about half way through the film The Great Beauty that uses Arvo Pärt’s version and it’s so beautiful and melancholy- always makes me well up
