I’m a MOD (married, old, dad) who likes live music, console gaming, bicycles and cooking. I try to be curious, not judgmental.

Updated list of my favorite games. 🎮The Last of Us (Series) 🎮 Clair Obscur:Expedition 33 🎮 Jet Set Radio / Future 🎮 Breath of the Wild 🎮 Metal Gear Solid (1) 🎮 Spider-Man Miles Morales 🎮 God of War (2016) 🎮 Metroid Prime 🎮 Ghost of Tsushima 🎮 Astrobot

A shame @xbox.com always short-changes physical releases. I’d buy this for PS5 even though I have a Series X and have been playing it on @gamepass.xbox.com.

Yes, we saw the story about the Microsoft job listing involving physical games. Don't want to be the party pooper, but given what Xbox understands under the term "physical", we'd suggest everyone to keep their expectations in check.

That’s what I did. Can’t wait!

Sony lied, exhibit 327! Recent data from Ampere: Wolverine sold 35 % physical in the UK, 51 % physical across Europe (2/3 physical in France). Silent Hill Townfall was 45 % physical. The Blood of Dawnwalker 36 % physical. Onimusha 30 % physical.

So close to having the entire FF VII remake trilogy preserved and playable forever. 😔 @square-enix-games.com

So funny that I was a diehard @pittsburghsteeler.bsky.social fan my entire life up until @miketomlin.bsky.social retired. Warms my heart to find out he’s a gamer.

The announcement of new @playstation.com headphones seems to leave out a game-changing feature from the #PulseElite version: the charging cradle dock, where you didn’t need to hassle with plugging in a charging cable.

Excellent review of #ControlResonant by @skillup.bsky.social. While I always enjoy his reviews and content, I especially appreciate that the review explained what type of gamer will and will not enjoy this game. As much as I love Remedy’s games, I think I’ll get #FireEmblemFortune’sWeave instead.

Unlike TV & movies, where you don’t have to “get good” to enjoy something great, games require an alignment btwn the type of game it is and the type of gamer you are. Personally, I’m really enjoying “Wolverine” where games like Saros & Elden Ring are just expensive sleeves in my collection.

Ultimately, reviews can improve a studio’s future games, if they get a chance, as bad reviews can lead to layoffs or a studio’s closure. Perhaps a “best suited for casual players” approach in reviews might better serve the gaming public (when a game is not actually a hot pile of garbage).

It’s not the critic’s fault I bought a game they loved that I bounced on. It’s not the critics fault that I enjoy a game they didn’t care for. To be a games journalist, you need to have a high skill level and I need to remember that when applying their opinion to where I spend my time and money.

To some, the friction and the challenge is the fun, and that’s fine. I want all gamers to find games they enjoy. I want people of all skill levels and abilities to be able to enjoy gaming. Otherwise, this struggling industry will continue to lose players which is not a good thing.

Absent from the conversation around “Wolverine” is what impact playstation.com ‘s mass layoffs are and will continue to have on the quality of their first party studio’s games. You can’t lose that much talent and expect to maintain the same level of quality. @skillup.bsky.social @jakebaldino.com

Sony Interactive Entertainment is laying off about 900 PlayStation employees worldwide, a reduction of about 8%, the company announced this week.

None of the big 3 have any concern for gamers’ rights. Steam seems to be the best option these days but sadly, there’s no physical option with them.
