I’m rather shocked & embarrassed that I never stopped to think about this practice more critically. In retrospect, I can think of at least a dozen examples off the top of glowing, effusive previews or even cover stories for games that were later critically savaged; or worse, forgotten to time.

Never faster has my mind been changed from, “I don’t need a console” to “This must be in my living room.”
