Slightly amazed there was never a first-person, Metroid Prime style Castlevania where you use the Wiimote to swing the whip Regardless of how well that would actually work, how did Konami look at the Wii and think "Ah yes, 3D arena fighter, obviously"

A new 3D Castlevania shouldn't just be Legally Distinct Bloodborne. However, consider A: Soulslikes already inherit a lot of DNA from Symphony of the Night B: At this rate it's the closest we'll get to an actual Bloodborne 2

I don't dislike Lords of Shadow but it is the kind of game where every part of combat feels like it takes about twice as long as it should Honestly I think I'm just not convinced God of War was the right format for 3D Castlevania

It's kind of cute how it fuses the linear level based progression of the early games with the permanent upgrades of the later games. But "replay old levels with new abilities" is sorta the worst of both worlds. Especially when the combat was already feeling drawn out the first time

What is the point of having Democrats if they just support Republican positions anyways? What is the point of having a centrally organized party if they won't tell assholes like this "fuck off, you don't speak for us"? You will never defeat fascism by embracing fascism in smaller increments

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

And yes, obviously I know the reason party leadership doesn't tell candidates like this to fuck off is because candidates like this do, in fact, speak for them. The point is the only kind of party worth tolerating would refuse to let someone with these views run under their banner

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

100%ed Belmont's Curse! I'm not the world's biggest Castlevania expert so I can't say much about how it stacks up against the rest of the series. But I know I had a damn good time with it. I'm glad the Belmonts are back (The Isaac fight can get fucked though 😆)

I'm so happy to see how well this is doing. These books, and the whole series, really deserve it Also those translation notes are really neat. Love that they have the English version and the D'ni script

Cyan Worlds@cyan.com

We keep meeting stretch goals faster than we're able to make the graphics! We've now added: - Luxe edge treatment - Add'l foil deboss on ALL slipcases - D'ni language slipcase for D'ni language variant edition And, well, we just hit 900K, so additional D'ni translations are go!

This shit is Hollywood accounting. It's fake. You don't have to buy the notion that games are simply Too Expensive To Make because The Graphics Are Too Good or whatever, it's not real.

Mike Richards reposted

People want to blame graphical fidelity, scope expectations, etc etc etc for ballooning budgets and schedules when DA:V, a game with stylized visuals and constrained content expectations, "cost" however the fuck many hundreds of millions to come out because they made three games and shipped one

My game dev work has already been struggling, but the enshittification of Epic has really fucked up my drive. I don't think I can realistically move my current project away from Unreal. But how much longer will this ecosystem even be *functional*, let alone acceptable?

I've already lost years spinning my wheels because of Life Stuff. And now I'm staring down the barrel of potentially having to lose even more time trying starting over somewhere else. The whole thing is just so needlessly fucked up

"AI has ruined search engines, so I'm just gonna use AI instead" sure is an argument You can't really call AI "a technofascist, anti-human and anti-art project" and then try to rationalize using it anyways. Eventually you have to pick being part of the problem or the solution

Aura/Moom@moomanibe.bsky.social

I'll be honest, there is nothing more demoralizing to me than devs saying "I know AI is built on theft, and anti-labour, and harms the environment, but I'm going to use it anyway bc I don't believe individual choices matter". This is how a movement fails. www.molleindustria.org/blog/future-...

Very strange to see people post about the new Castlevania having no contact damage (good change) and come to the conclusion that it’s “frictionless game design” because “enemies can’t be annoying”. Because like. Bestie. The enemies in this game can be more annoying than you can possibly imagine

I love how immediately Tim takes this personally. This is spectacularly bad messaging and he volunteered it out of nowhere, for no reason. It's gotta be getting to him. He knows we don't want his crap "Your employees are liking my post" Ouch. Keep it coming

"You're in a vibe coded port, Max." "The truth was a burning green crack through my brain. Illegible tangled code. Bugs that would never be fixed. Resources wasted for a goal that made no sense." "I was in a vibe coded slop port. Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of."

Holy shit you guys we can finally play Max Payne with a mouse and keyboard 😳🤯🤯🤯

Friction is important, difficulty isn't intently bad, we shouldn't always sand off a game's rough edges, etc But the Medusa heads in Symphony of the Night sucked. The clock tower sucked. I'm glad they changed them in Belmont's Curse and I'm not sorry

Well here's some good news to start the day off! Control Resonant is easily my game of the year and Remedy deserves nothing but success

Remedy Entertainment@remedygames.com

Thank you for the support ❤️ For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community. #CONTROLResonant

"Update and Shut Down doesn't actually shut down" is my favorite stupid Microsoft thing. If it was any other company I'd almost be convinced they're doing a bit If you *need* to do a restart, why have the option at all? Just own it! Having it and then not doing it just makes you look incompetent

Don't think I ever actually beat Silent Hill 1 back when I first played it. I think I got frustrated when I realized I couldn't save Cybil and fell off Replaying it now, I didn't realize you can only pick up the aglaophotis during the *first* part of the hospital. So now that save is kinda fucked

I'm more forgiving of that kind of secret ending condition now than back then, even if I still think SH1's implementation is a little awkward. But I know how the endings work. And if I keep going on this save I'm gonna spend the whole rest of the game knowing I'm locked into the path I didn't want

Folks if you start up your autopilot system FIRST in Galactic Racer it will handle the rest of the systems for you at the start of the race. This game fucking gets it.

I am so unimaginably angry at Epic I *like* Unreal. I have years invested in this engine. Knowledge, assets, projects in the works. And they're just lighting it all on fire for fucking nothing So what the hell are any of us getting screwed over by Time Sweeney supposed to do?

I already wanted to start getting into Godot more. But starting over from scratch in a new engine when I have projects that I've been chipping away at for years is a huge order. And for a lot of devs that may not even be feasible at all

Utterly in love with the rainy, dreary atmosphere of Silver Pines The game and I disagree on a couple points of survival horror design (I've never been a fan of limited items for saving), but it's worth it. Beautiful work so far

I went through a bit of a rail shooter kick earlier this year while getting over one of the *worst* flus I've ever had, and finally experiencing Rez Infinite almost made the whole thing worth it. What a masterpiece. I couldn't put it down

It's the 10th Anniversary of Rez Infinite! Originally released on PS4, with optional PSVR compatibility (which launched the same day)! We thank everyone who has played the game over the years—and isn't this a perfect time to play it again? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u7aZ64Gxr0

Max Payne 3 is one of the most conflicting games I've ever played It's probably one of Rockstar's best outings, but all it ends up doing is driving home that even at their best Rockstar can't really live up to Remedy for me It's... fun. It's good enough. But that's all

the stupid thing was: the consumer games press DID have unethical marketing mouthpiece relationships with the industry. the e3 / spike tv / actiblizz / doritogate conglomerate and the payola-dominated masculine corporate culture had a stranglehold on what got made and how it could be discussed --
