attending ConSYDeration this weekend? Pro tip! Pack a lunch and bring a full keepcup, restaurants aren’t super close and you don’t want to miss a minute of the excellent programming!

OMG Sydney thank you for coming to ConSYDeration’s Ghostly Gala tonight, it was so full tons of people were standing in the back! And the next two days will be even better! I’ll attach some pics

Hey! I’m now offering sensitivity reading services. I can read for Disability, Gender, Sexuality, Language and culturally complex environments. I also have expertise on medicine from the POV of patient and professional, including psychiatric medicine. If this fits your project, DM me for details!

Wow, just went to the Portals Sci Fi and Fantasy exhibit in Singapore and it was totally worth it. I’ll put some photos below… It ends 2 September and frankly I would have flown up from Australia just for it if I had known…

If you are a writer of any kind in Sydney/ NSW/ Australia could you please share? Sydney needs help putting together a con, we're hoping to create a bridge between speculative and literary/ other genre fiction and all are welcome! Here's the homepage for the event: scribes.com.au/consyderation/

Writers traditionally shed words in May, which can make them awkward and skittish. Don't worry, they aren't sick, don't have rabies, and probably won't bite. If you see one in the middle of it, toppled over, words spilling out of them, just put a cloth or cardboard box over their head. Do not feed!

Hey SpecPo peeps, I’m taking a class on putting together a poetry collection and I need 2 full-length hard copy books to study (prefer specpo). I live in Australia, and most of the big titles from the US/UK will take weeks. Any Aussie recs? Or any non spec poets using speccy techniques?

You meet someone to chat about possible collaboration opportunities for your writing group with their institution. It turns out she is also Turkish. You go home after an accidental 2 hour lunch with a carry bag full of cakes. I have missed this so much. I may also not eat again until Monday…

Hey Sydney peeps, don’t forget that Twisted Fictions is happening Monday at 6pm at the Shakespeare Hotel, with some great readers! No RSVP needed… (not my event but I’ll be there!)

five years ago today we were in hotel quarantine in Australia, wow those were some wild times. families received visitors like this photo and would call up to talk on cell phones. I still remember how sad this family looked.
