I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking. Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals… All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it. We CAN change things.

What Dolly taught us is that it is in fact possible to be wealthy beyond your wildest dreams of avarice but still be a fundamentally good person with a strong moral compass, and the only reason more rich people aren't like that is because they don't want to be.

This had never occurred to me because all my life I believed most people given the same circumstances would do what their worst enemy does today. That everybody deserves opportunity and not everybody is born into it. That the greatest achievement possible is to make a world where everyone succeeds.

Spot on. They may try to fiddle with things in close races like under 2% margin of victory. But if the margin of victory is big enough they can’t fiddle with it enough to steal the election.
