@snoozer.bsky.social

Well if this lasts 15 years too I guess I’ll be snoozer when I’m old.

So normally if you're convicted of a crime, you serve your sentence you're free to go. If your sentence is #lethal #injection, then after that sentence is carried out, you're free to go, right?

The #StackOverflow developer survey results are in… Summary: 2/3 the respondents from last year, less than 1/3 compared to 2023, it's mostly about AI, and is skewed toward inexperienced male devs. IOW, nobody cares. It doesn't cover things real devs care about, and you should ignore it.

I'm imagining the meeting where the CEO says I need to build an #AI "kill switch". I'd be like, ok... what do you want this "kill switch" to do? He'd be like "It stops it!" I'd be like "So you want the ability to exit the program when you click a button" "Yeah just like that" "Ok ..."

I have to click through 3 scary messages in #Safari to access my own wifi router, because #Apple thinks it's trying to steal information from me. Joke's on you, Apple! It's not stealing, I give ALL of my internet information to 192.168.0.1 willingly! Bwa-ha-ha-ha!

Y'all think this sudden call for #AI regulation about "safety" or whatever. That's just another part of the con. LLMs are good for a handful of use cases, but the rest is snake oil. The scary parts - like a human deciding to plug in an AI to a gun - won't be fixed by regulation.

#AI viral marketing is running out of ideas First "it's so dangerous the gov't won't let you have it," then "it commits cybercrime by all by itself." Now, "we have to slow down or everyone dies."

The new AI-everything in search engines is just an admission that search engine companies are no longer capable of providing useful search results on the web. I just want a search covering the handful of useful websites that still exist: blogs, reddit, wikipedia, forums, news. Is that so hard?

A federal court just sided with Oregon, ordering USPS to hold off on enforcing its new mail ballot rule while our lawsuit plays out. This ruling keeps Oregon’s elections where they belong – and voters can trust their ballot to arrive securely and on time.

Ah yes, more mandatory company "training". I can only assume that the companies officers make their employees take them because someone at an insurance company or bank told them that it was "mandatory." What I don't know is who told the ins co or bank to do that. Who's pulling the strings here?

people who go jogging when the aqi is over 100: ugh, what are you trying to prove, virgin? people who still sit outside dives rippin cigs: whoa, check out the chad who doesn't care if they live or die

This is an experiment. I have two open windows with old MERV 13 filters sealed to them. The goal to reduce indoor CO₂ while keeping out the absolutely awful levels of #wildfire #smoke (over 120 µg/m³ PM2.5 currently). So far, it's keeping the smoke out, but CO₂ is still high. We'll see.

By the way, even if you don't use NPM on purpose, you might still be using it. For example the #python language server in #VSCode uses #npm. I don't know if VSCode is impacted or not but there are a lot of places where NPM is used that aren't necessarily obvious.

Another #eBay purchase, another fraudulent item. This was an Apple Watch, sold as "new/sealed", but was previously activated, and bricked. The tech's theory is that it was jailbreak it and failed. Makes me wonder how many watches are sold after the jailbreak was successful.

Hey @safety.bsky.app @bsky.app @support.bsky.team: Fix your porn problem! Innocuous search terms (today's was iPhone) are just full frontal nudity. If I'm looking for skin, fine. But surely we can agree that a public platform like this should have the same default clothing rules as real life?

̶s̶e̶t̶h̶ ̶ ̶@snoozer.bsky.social

Does @bsky.app have some way to filter graphic sexual content? Almost anything I search for is full of porn. If that's what I was looking for, then whatever, but something like #car shouldn't be only dick pics.

Aren't y'all super hyped up about AI? Because *this* is a problem easily solved with AI skin detectors. Just blur it by default. Move on. If you were walking around in public showing photos like that to anyone who said iPhone to you (including and especially 13 year olds), you'd be arrested.

@atlassian.bsky.social has decided to greedily profit from YOUR data to by using it to train AI models. This is a violation of trust, and a huge security hole. I can't wait for hackers to simply ask the #JIRA LLM for a list of bugs to exploit. support.atlassian.com/security-and...

I accidentally left #javaScript turned off on Safari, and I'm amazed how functional and much less annoying the internet is without javaScript. My CPU also isn't running 100% loading zillions of ad videos. No obnoxious autocomplete, or stupid sites disabling copy&paste etc. Refreshing.
