We are equally thrilled to explore opportunities for funding our #OAbooks production and to offer more equal opportunities for authors. Funding #diamondOA books isn't easy, and we'll need to explore several opportunities to keep our operations sustainable.

Open Book Collective@openbookcollective.bsky.social

We’re thrilled to welcome @stockholmunipress.bsky.social to the Open Book Collective! A born-OA press, governed by researchers, already transitioning its journals to Diamond OA & now joining OBC to do the same for books. Libraries can support them through our University Presses package. #DiamondOA

Still looking for librarians to complete our survey on how your library actually makes the decision to support OA initiatives - any country, any initiative. 📚

Caroline Ball@heroicendeavour.eurosky.social

Librarians, assemble! ✊ We're running a short, anonymous survey (10-15 mins) exploring how libraries actually decide whether to fund collective, fee-free open access, or not. Where does the money come from? What evidence carries the most weight? And what happens when the answer is no? Thank you!

Helping authors choose trusted journals matters — and publishers play a key role. Many researchers find Think. Check. Submit. thanks to the links and guidance shared by publishers. And if you’d like a TCS speaker for a webinar or content for your newsletter, we’re always happy to collaborate.

Adding to the conversation at #OASPA2025 about what we can do to change the current research assessment system. We should collect good examples, like the University of Sorbonne, which is using open data for analysis and invest in open infrastructures, see www.sorbonne-universite.fr/en/news/sorb...

AGREED the Mandy Hill at #OASPA2025 that we should design a publishing system we want rather than trying to adapt what we have. It would be open by default. Certainly the arguments publishers make for why we should pay for OA underpin how dysfunctional their traditional subscription model is.

URGENCY - from Stefano Bertuzzi at #OASPA2025 noting we are "living a terrible crisis where we have a breakdown in the shared methods that determine the truth". Again this invokes Merton's Norms of Science - Communism, Universalism, Disinterestedness & Organized Skepticism. We need re-evaluation
