#macOS dev. Somehow it seems I’m post-social media: Most of the time I can’t think of anything to share or publish. And frankly, it nowadays sucks to lack a personal identity.

As AI apparently has the power to make my occupation and my passions truly meaningless, it ultimately has the power to free me once and for all.

I *need* more quality in my life! More attention to detail, more clever design, more love for the craft, … just generally more delight because somebody really thought something through. How to find it?

What I obviously liked most about #wwdc is the apology voucher (redeemable for Apple products) they gave us to compensate for all the extra work needed to partially roll back 26’s liquid glass and menu icons decisions 🥲 Bravo Apple, what a classy move!

The whole tech industry feels so deeply fucked up. What wouldn’t I give for having the mental and physical stamina to work a humanitarian job that actually helps people. #wwdc left me soo angry and sad.

Every time I use a LLM for coding, it *still* fails in (sometimes very) subtle ways. Every single time. I can now, in 2026, only diagnose a skill issue: either on my side – or, not much more unlikely, on everybody else’s 🫠

I just don’t get why some certain worldwide spoken language calls it "corn" when there is the beautiful, non-generic and unique word "maize" for it. Do native speakers even realize that corn simply means grain? 🤔

I wish I wasn't burnt out. I often go for *months* without doing literally anything, living off my savings, until a tiny, god-sent burst of productivity comes along for a few days.

My fear of the depletion of my funds and complete fossilization of myself is increasing daily. But I‘m staying put. I dislike how this sounds like a whiny confession, but it truly sucks, and I have to get it off my chest! #burnout #solodev #anxiety

If I could change one thing about the software industry, it would be adding way more quirky humor and whimsy. And I don’t mean silly meme pics in medium dot dom coding tutorials but instead more original and fresh styles like Nikita Prokopov‘s, for example.

I envy ADHD folks who seem to have a new project idea every 4 nano seconds. Maybe I should team up with them so we’ll hit a healthy middle ground together by reluctantly bringing my depressive and depressing can‘t-do-attitude into the mix?

If Structured Concurrency is the equivalent of Auto Layout, which many people also found quite a bit too hard to grasp, then what will be the equivalent of the liberating (or scary) paradigm shift that was SwiftUI?

I‘m mad at the world again today. Why are we little more but talking apes? Why do we constantly take advantage of others for money and power? Why do we elect leaders who do their job very poorly?

Why do we still get distracted ourselves with status symbols like we used to do centuries ago? Why can’t we at least temporarily unite for greater goods? … It is so, so difficult to bear that reason is considered boring and justice is little more than an imaginary concept not deeply inherent in man.

Isn't it kinda silly of mathematicians that they don't like to participate in lotteries? I mean, how unlikely would it be that *only* statisticians, of all people, shouldn't be able to win? If they knew anything about their profession, they should know better :P

Because you‘re fairly intelligent it should be clear to you by now that you‘re skimming another useless shit post at the moment yet you can’t stop reading it haha no honestly what’s wrong with you

Truth be told, I‘m an #AppKit aficionado. With all its quirks and shortfalls and strange corners it’s the equivalent of an old house: somewhat smelly, out of style and surely in need of renovation.

But at the same time: proven shelter, sturdy design, durable materials. And full of ghosts with interesting tales! I love it and am constantly exploring ‚new‘ old stuff, still after all these years.

We’ve managed to come up with and master the idea of infusing liquids with carbon dioxide and in the process invented „fun drinks“ – I’m asking you: Is there anything at all mankind cannot achieve?!

Nothing brings me grief more reliably than pondering the brevity of life. I *so* much want to carpe the effin’ diem out of it that in result I stagnate completely, because nothing is important enough to start right away and everything is just a sad, grotesque waste of time.

One of the things I find most terrible about AI is that it accelerates the enshittification of software even more. The fact that so many „eh, good enough“ projects are being created just because it's suddenly possible to do so worries me.

I mean, that’s the pride of our craftsmanship, isn’t it? The fun of creating beautiful things by ourselfes. Instead of watching them being created in mediocre quality in our name.

Personally, such kind of software drives me nuts and dampens my excitement for the industry as a whole, and AI is unfortunately perfect for creating software of this kind that would never have seen the light of day without it. And it baffles me that indy developers embrace it so much.

But isn't it beneficiary when more almost useful software exists than none at all? Well, I think the opposite is true. Just ask yourself: Don't we all hate it when something ALMOST always works, but then sometimes just doesn't? And aren't such cases even worse than if it didn't work AT ALL?
