just got done listening to the rough mix of [project code name “jazz vamp"] and it sounds so amazing and i am so honored to be a small part of it. probably the best (certainly the most ambitious) project i've been a part of; everyone who likes this kind of music is in for a treat when it comes out

what the "bleyzes" could this next project be…

spoilers for the character arc of my life, but as you can see, i was not kidding. thanks for bravely telling my story mikey flans, can't wait for your biopics of my friends Rebecca, Thelma, and Annabelle

mike flanagan’s upcoming “carrie” miniseries is actually about me. mike flanagan found out that he shared a name with mike leigh and therefore decided to start making slow-paced heartfelt biopics of people whose lives aren’t particularly dramatic, starting with me. i’m honored.

rest in peace Walter Koenig, who wrote these lines for his coworkers Shatner and Takei to deliver (Star Trek the Animated Series - S01E07 "The Infinite Vulcan")

i have always really liked voting, i admit it. it's fun to research the ballot questions and to fill in the little bubbles with the pen and to see the random assortment of other people there. the value of democracy aside, i just find it a fun activity that you get to do

Have you noticed, lately, or noticed people around you commenting, that there just seems to be no money anymore. There's no money for companies to make the tv shows you like, the video games you like, the local diner you like shut down, no one you know can find a job. Think about that in context of

AI is now the biggest investment in all of US history as a percentage of GDP. Datacenter construction is up, all other construction is down. "AI Is Squeezing Out the Rest of the Stock Market," reported WSJ 2 days ago. We basically bet the whole economy on the most optimistic visions panning out.

It`s Bandcamp Friday Day, and so it istime to make the post twhere I simply encourage you to give away your monoey to deserving musicians on Bandcamp.com and elsewhere. (Nota bene: all musicians are deserving , + there is no distinction between musician & non-musician. give people your money)

as i said long ago, my bandcamp is starting to reflect the eclecticism i cherish, with some arrhythmic noise, a handful of charming video game music, and of course 15+ hours of out-of-tune Satie. if you listen to and support my music then i'll make more of it, so be careful carriez.bandcamp.com

carriez.bandcamp.comcarrie zi like sounds. here you may find some small game scores, some noise music, and my ongoing attempt to record the complete works of Erik Satie on various pianos. enjoy.

my follower count went down over this one :( after going up for Tolstoy posts that no one liked  but also why did i notice this ): posting really messes up a person

i ihate to post about ‘politics’ but at this point everyone agrees that the only reason Joanna Newsom’s 5th album isn’t out yet is becuase Gavin’s pressuring the recrod label to stop his weird cousine from being in the news & making him look worse by contrast (he cannot name a single bird), right?

i liked this story, alternately scary, funny, and sad in surprising places. i assume that this is the recent Western Massachusetts-related drama that people keep talking about?

NEW UNFICTION JUST DROPPED "I Found Evidence Of My House Spinning" A Technology Anomaly Tragicomedy Read here: suricrasia.online/unfiction/sp... Share with a friend if you enjoyed it :D

all the stuff in "[DELISTED] I Found Evidence Of My House Spinning | U&U Forums (LibreCrawl archive 2026-09-03)" really does happen round here. ok, maybe <vg qbrfa'g srry yvxr rnfgunzcgba fcrpvsvpnyyl>, but i was grateful for a bit of inverisimilitude in an otherwise pretty intensely realistic story

Satie sample in "Near or Far" on the new Carly Rae Jepsen, and she actually seems to understand that the special Satie thing is less "soft gentle unintrusive" than "non-functional tonal harmony", which is pretty cool! good track. some fun chord progressions elsewhere on the album too. thanks Canada

update: memorizing remained fun & soothing. in absence of any other sort of performance chance, i decided to record the piece yesterday to mark 3 weeks since i started learning it. (spent a lot more time failing to fix a color grading problem than on the recording itself, c'est la vie.) it was fun!

this weekend i decided to start learning to play a random Haydn sonata from memory. so far it's been really fun and has soothed some of my art-related anxieties. it'd been way too long since i seriously memorized any music. in general memorizing things you like is so rewarding! recommended

saw "Camp Miasma" and the indie cinema put a trailer for "Kwaidan" before it, and i've decreed that from now on every movie must have at least one exterior shot (preferably 15) using handmade matte paintings for backdrops

hire reeder for something

By “projects” I mean the following: - music scoring for short films/animations - music producing - website development (aforementioned day job) I believe in doing the job well, and avoid using LLMs or any form of generative AI for any part of the work I touch.

the "auto-dub" that YouTube now imposes on videos, without the user asking for it, causes me immeasurable psychic distress. i despise it! if you must create a world of falsehoods, at least let me choose whether to enter it! 極めてなにか生命に対する侮辱を感じます!

i looked up a Brazilian movie trailer: i wanted to relax by seeing a bit of an unfamiliar culture, feeling part of a shared global humanity, & maybe learning a few words of Portuguese; instead 2 seconds of "auto-dub" left me crushed by doubt in shared reality & a sense of total cultural atomization

well, eventually i learned you can turn off the "auto-dub" "feature" by manually checking off every language in the "Preferred languages" setting. a waste of my time, a waste of google's server time, a waste of humanity's time. uma traição. assim é a vida

"and cascade", my new album, releases on august 14th. you'll be able to download it on bandcamp at jade-archives.bandcamp.com or purchase a CD if that is your thing. this one has been a long time coming, i am incredibly happy with how it turned out. i hope you can look forward to it :-)

i updated my list of Herman Melville cinematic adaptations, and all i could find after 5 years was several more Bartlebys. for shame. we need “White-Jacket but in the modern US Navy”. we need “Mardi but in space”. we need “A24 Presents: Bell-Tower”. letterboxd.com/somebypaths/...

letterboxd.comAdaptations of Herman Melville works other than Moby-DickThat's 2 Billy Budds, 2 Typees, 12 Bartlebys, and one each of Omoo, The Encantadas (Sketch Eighth), Benito Cereno, and Pierre (with two versions of the same production). Some of these adaptations are ...

i get that you all you need to film a Bartleby is two actors in a room, and that for most of Melville’s other work you need, like, a ship. but that’s no excuse. (nor is the fact that “Moby-Dick” is (understandably) the only thing anyone cares about from this guy.)

im becoming a filmmaker solely to make a “Secret Honor”-inspired movie of “Israel Potter: His Fifty Years of Exile” that consists of an old man ranting about how he met Ben Franklin

It's Erik Satie time once again! I think you'll enjoy Volume 13, especially if you like the sounds of birds and vehicles and stuck notes, for it's all recorded outside on two lovely weatherworn public pianos. carriez.bandcamp.com/album/satie-...

this month marks 9 years of my Satie project… thank you to those mighty handful who have listened to it or said kind words about it over the years. it's been the most thankless yet rewarding undertaking in classical music. 4 more installments, i think? the end's in sight.

I was honored to do some of the early playtesting for Escape from Wonderland, and i like it a lot. It has a nice balance between open storytelling and some intense and unique gameplay mechanics. If you like TTRPGs, i definitely recommend getting it when it's out, and/or trying the new beta now!

Hi! We have been super not active on Bluesky 1. Because we’re bad at it & 2. Because we’ve been working on the public beta rules for our uncanny horror game, Escape from Wonderland. They’re ready! Read! Play! We’d love feedback and are thrilled to finally share them. docs.google.com/document/d/1...
