Memory hit me from the Ren Faire: Dude in robes walked by saying “alms for the poor…” and I thought ah yes, I should see if I have something to trade him… …and then he put a thing in my hand and said “you are the poor,” and kept walking. That was probably the most perfect moment of that day.

In case any classicists or TTRPG nerds search the word on this app later: A few weeks ago I made my players experience a Buphonia. They drew lots to play the different parts. They didn’t know what was gonna happen. It took the guy 3 swings to finish the ox. It was lovely.

Batgirl was the first superhero I ever fell in love with as a kid, when I saw her on the Batman show at my cousin’s house. Through my whole life, she seemed like a friend and inspiration, and she’s followed me most of my career. First with Birds of Pret, then her solo book.

For posterity for future Vancouverites: The Pattullo Bridge between New Westminster and Surrey was a shitty bridge. Beyond being “orange and cool looking”, it was narrow, didn’t have a hard divider between oncoming traffic, and was well used beyond its original design.

It is weird how many people are like “oh man, an icon is gone” and more tellingly saying “I’m never calling the new bridge stal̕əw̓asəm” is such a weird hill to die on. The bridge was scary and crumbling. The new bridge is going to be a life saver. The Pattullo was obsolete AF. Good riddance.

Watching The Odyssey the same week I finally listened to Epic The Musical has been a one-two super effective punch to the hyperfoci. I’m not even mad.

The Vancouver croissant crawl is on and one of the participants (Mon Paris Patisserie) has an ai image, which I criticized firmly and politely and offered other options of what they could have done instead and now the owners husband is writing essays attacking me on LinkedIn! It’s super weird!

TTRPG PSA: When you tell your friends about what happened in game, it is of great/utmost importance to clarify that what you are describing happened “in the game”. Otherwise you’re just opening a conversation with “Morgan died”, or “Morgan visited a sex worker” and scrambling after that is tiring.

To be completely clear: AI slop is slop. It's landfill-core. It's a reanimated corpse attempting to speak to us with the voices of stolen creativity, personality, and joy. It's a soulless affront to one of the best aspects of humanity, and I do my utmost to avoid participating in its use.

Please be vocal about not using AI. We have to normalize it. No "I'm not going to say that because it should be assumed. I'm not going to give them this". We don't have time for that shit ideological shit right now. NOW is the time to capitalize on waning favorability. Ppl want human made

A Norway fan has gone viral for not taking part in their Row celebration after matches and won't do it if they win the World Cup "It’s factually wrong; they didn’t row, they sailed over the Atlantic”

Following today's reveal of Ghostbusters: Night Shift, Netflix has shared higher-resolution images from the upcoming animated series, offering fans a closer look at the show's gritty 1994 setting and supernatural threats. 👻🚫 MORE ON GHOSTBUSTERS: NIGHT SHIFT: ghostbustersnews.com/2026/06/24/n...

Starting watching some Berserk because an artist friend of ours is obsessed with it. I do this while aware of its reputation. It’s giving me a lot of Game Of Thrones reaction where you know there is a deep, intriguing story in there past the edgelord gore and sexual violence. Animation is nice.

Casca as a creation frustrates me. Again, I’m fully confident there is a deep, troubled but otherwise fleshed out character here. I know she has a rough backstory. I know it will get worse for her. But yeah, I’m pretty sure she’s gonna spend the whole series perpetually in the fridge and it’s sad

There’s a joke I make in our Saber Guild kids shows when I take a big fall and I hear kids shout “call a medic!” I always go “no, no, don’t call the medic, I’m fine and… that’s a lot of paperwork I don’t want to have to do…” Anyway, someone at work is claiming work injury. That paperwork is awful.

I had a socks matching party last weekend. I consolidated all the socks that I had from the drawer and from all the laundry, and spent like an hour matching them back up to each other. It was also a good time to assess how many of the broken socks I don’t need. Turns out I have a lot of socks…

“I can gleefully stand on a bridge and blow it up because bitch I know how to swim” is a pretty good line. I need to paraphrase that into a tabletop game…

Getting clocked by my fiancée because I kept fact-checking Connor from Love On The Spectrum’s factoids instead of just letting the kindly autistic man say incorrect things to his loved ones. I’m just sayin’, the dilophosaurus neck frill was purely a movie thing. But I’m the mean one.

(Obviously not actually that hung up on this. It was just a funny moment when I called it out and Ashi looked at me shocked at how ruthlessly I called it out) (Also, his Charlemagne quote was from Indiana Jones and was created whole cloth as a cold line for when Sean Connery kills a man with birds)

GODDAMN I love making comics. Okay. So we did a story very dear to my heart in Uncanny X-Men, about mutants during the Jim Crow era, called THE DARK ARTERY. It featured a new character named LADY HENRIETTA, and people just took to her in a beautiful way. They asked for more. 1/
