Tickets are going fast for Sunday’s Reign game - basically nothing left on the east side or lower SE corner, but they’ve opened additional upper sections behind the south goal. Weather should be great, don’t miss seeing the Tiny Dragon in person one last time! www.reignfc.com/news/ways-to...

PRO basically gave us the same explanation: that as long as the encroaching player doesn’t play the ball or block a defender from playing the ball, they’re considered inconsequential. Weirdly, offside is judged far more harshly.

More Schmetzer: “San Diego is a good team. Our team fought. We scored some tremendous goals. We had chances to make it three. Those players put everything they had into this game. I was super proud of them.”

Schmetzer: “It feels like a loss. We were much better than them. We should have closed that game out. … Those guys put every piece of themselves into that game. They were busting their ass and we should have come out of here with three points.”

Cristian Roldan: “I feel like the effort was there for 90 minutes. It was unbelievable effort. Having to defend and these players are very savvy with their movements. Defensively we put a whole lot of effort. Guys came off field exhausted…

Roldan cont: “But we had two mistakes that cost us. So, it wasn’t a complete performance. “What I saw was battle tested and can carry that into our next game. If we correct those things that led to the goals and we end up winning that game

The equalizer comes from nothing. Yeah, Hawkins probably should let go but Chapman doesn’t have to call it either. Attacker wasn’t getting that ball.

What’s even more frustrating, is Chapman allows more physical play and contact than just about any other ref. No idea why he felt compelled to bail out San Diego there.

Anti-trans bigots are coming to NWSL games looking to provoke violence or other incidents that could go viral. This is the back-up plan: harass and endanger anyone who stands up to them. NWSL is going to have to contend with this. Kicking the can down the road will put too many fans at risk.

The most frustrating part about this is Sounders played it very well after giving up the first penalty. They sucked all the energy out of the game, had San Diego chasing shadows.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

SD #12 is clearly encroaching at the moment the kick is taken, but there is no impact on the goalkeeper, and SD #12 neither plays the ball nor challenges an opponent for the ball. I have a goal.
