As the saying goes, "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story." Republicans never do.

"There is no evidence the French protests have anything to do with immigration. There has been Islamist violence over the years...That’s not what’s happening and no desperate eagerness by Republicans to hijack protests for their flailing campaigns can change that." www.thebulwark.com/p/the-real-l...

Imagine if in 1943 FDR had decided that the US would stop helping Britain and instead would side with the Third Reich. That's a bit like what President Trump is now doing by cozying up to Russia as it tries to destroy Ukraine. Utterly shameful. A humiliating moment for the US.

Would love reporters to ask Trump whether he is aware that his allying with Russia in its Ukraine war helps Iran in its fight with the US since Russia and Iran are allies. Or is his idea, the friend of my enemy is my friend?

13-year-old Kseniia Pikalova might well have been outraged by the Starlink restrictions #Musk imposed without warning. But she never will be – because a Russian Smerch rocket attack killed her, her mother, and her grandmother on October 12.

Three members of the same family were killed in a Russian shelling of Cherkaske, Donetsk region, today: a 13-year-old girl, her 36-year-old mother and 62-year-old grandmother.

Will someone, again, remind me why any decent human being on earth still posts on Twitter?

How about a pause to AI development for say, 10 years? Let's figure out how to use what's been created, and take our time in doing so. Really, what is the goddam rush?

Great on-the-ground reporting by NYT's Sabrina Tavernise. This may be the first story I've read that indicates Trump's grip on his "base" might finally be slipping. ‘He’s Not Making Sense’: How Trump Has Alienated Voters for the G.O.P. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/08/u...

Would adopting all-party primaries help democracy? Would it help elect progressives? A convoluted MA ballot fight offers no answers to these riddles. There are Dem and Republican leaders on both sides. All lofty talk. A frustrating muddle for voters. www.wbur.org/news/2026/10...

Amazing to think we live at a time when many of the most loathsome people in our history sit the highest levels of US government and industry. I mean, Trump, Vance, Miller, Musk, Hegseth, Rubio, Vought, Zuckerberg, Bezos, RFK, Kushner, Don Jr., this is truly the age of powerful Dickensian villains.

On a hike up the mountains at Sugarbush ski area in Vermont, amid a panoramic sea of fall foliage this tiny orange hawkweed shyly displayed its own distinct colors. The red maple was in full splendor.

Many people in Boston may not be aware that the city’s Public Garden is home to several redwood trees. These Dawn Redwoods are smaller than their California cousins, but still striking.

What's so striking about this catastrophic Trump term is that so much of the damage is intentional. Yes, they are utterly incompetent, but they behave like hooligan teens breaking into a school after hours and trashing it. Except unlike kids these are grownups and they are also stealing our money.

Would any of us be surprised by this news story: Fresh from his meeting with Chinese president Xi, President Trump announced today that he plans to construct a Trump Great Wall of America around the White House. Trump said the gold wall is necessary for national security. “It will be fabulous.”

Stupid. Pandering. Self-destructive. The #mapoli governor who thinks disinvesting is the answer to the spike in gas prices. Suspend the gas tax, make it easier to drive more, is neither sustainable nor sensible. www.nbcboston.com/news/local/g...

So the media is showing some backbone at last, right? Then why are so many outlets showing Trump's UN speech? So discouraging to see the free press bow to our child king, again and again.

The proper headline for this story is "George W. Bush, once a Trump foe, allies with him by working to keep Senate Red." In case anyone ever thought George Bush put country before party, this proves otherwise. What a jerk.

It seems hard to sugarcoat just how disastrous the Panasonic-Warner merger is. I wish there was a silver lining, but I can’t think of one. This is a big victory for the far right and a huge loss for the rest of the country.
