We wish all SRTA members well as they engage in professional learning experiences today during MTS PD Day! Educators are lifelong learners, and today is a great day for improvement, innovation, and reflection. Thanks to all the SAGE groups for putting on events today!

Today, on World Teachers' Day, we celebrate and recognize the dedication, compassion, and professionalism of educators. These folks work each and every day to inspire learning, nurture potential, and help build stronger communities.

Teachers change lives, not only through the knowledge they share, but also through the encouragement, care, and support they provide. Thank you to SRTA members, as well as teachers across Manitoba, Canada, and the world! Happy #WorldTeachersDay!

Beyond the orange t-shirts, let us take the time to honour Indigenous peoples, their resilience, and their sovereignty, and to reflect on the lasting harms of Residential schools. #NDTR

#TruthAndReconciliationDay is a reminder that reconciliation extends beyond a single day. It is an ongoing responsibility to strengthen respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through learning, reflection, and action.

Today, students and staff are wearing orange to school as an act of reconciliation, including SRTA president Jonathan Waite and Seine River School Division superintendent Colin Campbell. Thank you to all that honoured residential school survivors today.

Tomorrow is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage members to take some time for reflection and education, and then plan for how to continue conversations throughout the school year.

It's an exciting time of year for SRTA members, who have started another school year! After yesterday's day of learning and organizing, they are spending today in professional learning sessions across our school division. All of this in preparation for students returning to schools tomorrow.

Today, on Labour Day, we honour all workers whose dedication builds stronger communities—including the educators, support staff, and education workers who show up every day for students and families. Worker rights are human rights! #LabourDay #SolidarityWorks #TeachersAreWorkers #UnionStrong

A big thank you to Ashley, Chantelle, Derek, and Jonathan for representing SRTA at this year‘s MTS Summer Seminars learning event in Brandon! Our Local Association was well represented by these four this week.

On Terry Fox Day, we honour a legacy of courage, determination, and hope. Terry’s journey continues to inspire us to work together for a better future and to show our students the power of perseverance and compassion. #TerryFoxDay

Happy Canada Day! Today we celebrate the diverse communities, cultures, and shared values that shape our country. As educators, we remain committed to fostering learning, respect, and opportunity for every student, in every community.

We have reached the last day of the school year, and we'd like to wish all Seine River students and staff a restful, relaxing summer! With students away today, SRTA members are hard at work finishing things up before leaving for the summer break, and the SRTA is doing the same today!

Finally, we want to give our member the heads-up that an email is coming later this afternoon which provides many updates on employee benefits and salaries. If you are an SRTA member (or are going to be one in September) and have not yet signed up for the email list, you can do so at our website.

First up, we want to thank all three of our high schools for inviting SRTA president Jonathan Waite to their graduation ceremonies. It was a great honour for Jonathan to be at these fantastic events, and he was happy to present three students with SRTA Education Bursaries.

This day is both a celebration and a call to action—one that asks us to deepen our commitment to reconciliation in our classrooms, schools, and communities. We encourage all educators to take time today to learn, reflect, and engage with Indigenous knowledge in meaningful and respectful ways.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and father figures in our teaching community. Your care, patience, and dedication make a difference both at home and in our classrooms every day. Thank you for all that you do. Wishing you a well-deserved day of appreciation and celebration! #FathersDay

Big thanks to all members of SRTA council for a successful 2025-2026! At tonight’s meeting, amidst multiple weather alerts, we (quickly) got the work done to cap off the year, and set a budget and a fee for next year.

In June we recognize National Indigenous History Month in Canada. We encourage you to take the time to learn about and honour the diverse cultures, histories, and traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

We can also take this opportunity to reflect, in a fulsome manner, on the lasting impacts of colonization. Knowing our history and thinking about how to make things better helps all of us move towards meaningful reconciliation. #NIHM2026 For more information, please visit bit.ly/4fTS7tr.

As we start Pride Month, we want to honour and celebrate all 2SLGBTQ+ students, educators, and communities. Pride is both a celebration and a reminder of the ongoing work toward equity and belonging for all.

We know that staff in our schools are instrumental in creating spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued for who they are. The SRTA remains committed to supporting inclusive learning environments and standing against discrimination in all its forms.

We want to thank our team of SRTA members who served as delegates and alternates to this year‘s MTS annual general meeting. Over the course of three days, our Local was well represented by our team which included Ann, Christina, Derek, Jonathan, Kelsey, Megan, Melissa, and Rebecca. Bravo!

Today we celebrate the incredible mothers and mother figures who nurture, inspire, and support our communities every day—at home and in our schools. Thank you for all you do. Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

We would like to offer our congratulations to Derek, Daniel, Chantelle and Rebecca who were acclaimed as Executive members for the next 2 school years! We have two vacancies on the Executive team - SRTA members should watch for an email in the coming days about how to sign up to express interest.

Pink Shirt Day reminds us that every student and staff member deserves to feel safe, valued, and included at school. Today, let’s choose kindness, speak up when we see bullying, and reach out to anyone who seems alone.

Wearing pink is one small action, but our words and behaviour every day make the real difference. Together, we can build schools where respect is the norm and bullying has no place. 💗 #PinkShirtDay #BeKind #LiftEachOtherUp #StopBullying
