Nice backpack. Room for his dignity and lots of space for other knickknacks.

Defeated Brazilian presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and his family have landed in Miami after fleeing his country. This comes a day after they were granted United States visas by the Trump administration.

A bad night for so-called "Republika Srpska" as well.

Dan Friedman@dfriedman.bsky.social

Serbian strongman Vucic conceded to the anti-corruption "Student List" opposition. www.haaretz.com/world-news/e.... Loss for the Trumpers. Vaguely similar to Orban's fall. The nationalism and Trump/Putin coddling is bad corruption seems to have been fatal electorally.

The victory by Serbia's Student List is perhaps even greater than the defeat of Milošević by Koštunica in 2000. So many questions and challenges, but Central Europe's tide is swinging back to democracy.

Alaska. Supreme. Court.

BASH: What's the crime? AG TODD BLANCHE: What's the crime? Well it depends. There *could* be a crime. But the real wrong here is that Alaskans are gonna be confused. BASH: The Alaskan Supreme Court ruled 4 months ago on this matter

JUST POSTED: A Russian energy giant has secretly moved to acquire a position in a massive Alaska gas project. Its part of talks between Witkoff/Kushner & Putin. But CEO of US company resigns after learning of Russian money in the project. A wowzer of a story. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/23/u...

nytimes.comIn U.S. Gas Talks With Kremlin, Hidden Financing for Alaska Project EmergesInterviews and documents show a Russian energy giant secretly funded a U.S. firm. The deal has been discussed in talks to end the war in Ukraine.

I say reading Seifert, Hrabal, Hasek and Nezval in that cafe *will* fix you.

The Whimsical Muse@whimsicalmuse.bsky.social

Whilst there are those who assert that reading Edgar Allan Poe in a quaint café on a rainswept cobblestone street in Prague whilst having cappuccinos and emotional support croissants “won’t fix you”, they’re failing to understand an undeniable truth: It certainly can’t hurt.

Whether the dogs actually were eaten is not my concern.

WOW -- Vance *defends* Vivek's reprehensible ad 👇 Q: Ramaswamy's campaign put out a controversial ad featuring his opponent's mother. Some Republicans are backing away. Do you think it was appropriate? JD VANCE: Well, I'll be honest. Whether the ad was appropriate or not is not really my concern.

Americans are going to find out quickly -- not only in November, but also January, and March, and June -- that merely sweeping a different party into Article I power is not a remedy for the colossal (and perhaps fatal) mistake that millions of voters made in November 2024. It's a start.

We're doing a blunderbuss demolition, but plaintiffs need standing for every claim.

Roger Parloff@rparloff.bsky.social

removal. J: if i find TMP is part of whole WNP. Do i assess standing as to whole plan, or just as to tree removal part of it. DOJ: plaintiff must establish standing for each claim. can't be just blunderbuss. they're doing a tree-cutting claim; a course-closing claim; redesign the course claim /198

This is what average Americans simply don't comprehend: In 2026, lawyers can make frivolous arguments to a federal court and evade responsibility for them. They can aid and abet defiance of an order by a federal judge and just skate. It seems like an immense joke played upon law-abiding citizens.

Sean Marotta@smmarotta.bsky.social

As much as I will likely get yelled at for saying it, this isn't proper. Reyes shouldn't have asked it and Woodward is right to refuse.

Build a house on a useless foundation and it collapses. Public records and covering cops, courts, and local government is the foundation.

Thank you, Congressman.

Congressman Don Beyer@beyer.house.gov

Trump just waived all sanctions on Russia in the Lindsey Graham Sanctioning Russia Act, just as I and others warned. Trump’s latest surrender to Putin again betrays our Ukrainian partners and defies clear congressional intent of legislation passed to punish Russia for its illegal war of aggression.

Not just Space X. Starlink as well.

Lindsay Beyerstein@beyerstein.bsky.social

We've got to nationalize SpaceX. We have no choice. We can't operate our military without them and we can't trust them to serve our national interest. There is literally no other option.

Augsburg down 2-0 after 6 minutes so maybe a mercy but I'm super disappointed with this glitchy #Fandango Bundesliga experience. It has to improve.

So a comedy version of Die Hard in a high school where the stakes are absurdly low. Like, a new administrator is trying to change the mascot so some substitute teachers are hiding the old one and... something like that.

Trump price of admission for any serious talks with a new majority should be removal of Vought and Hegseth.

Jeff Hauser@jeffhauser.bsky.social

Honestly, anyone who regularly breaks bread with Republicans is probably ill-suited to the tenor of campaign 2026-28 Democrats should be running.

Very dystopian that on the article about a A.I. data center poisoning the air, there's a little rainbow A.I. chatbot button just lurking at the edge, waiting to poison the air some more to answer your banal question

Brad Johnson@climatebrad.hillheat.com

My god. A Virginia data center ran backup diesel generators full blast for 24 hours, creating a giant cloud of toxic smoke that choked its human neighbors. The government claimed there was nothing they could do.

Reprehensible. There is a "Ukraine crisis" because Vladimir Putin (a) invaded Ukraine; (b) committed - and continues to commit - numerous war crimes; (c) got his nose bloodied; and (d) is in a quagmire which he cannot escape without help.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

“Zelenskyy could’ve stopped this war many times, and he chose not to … he better damn well stop” — Trump is no longer trying to conceal that he’s fully on Putin’s side

Pretty much. But it will take a Congress that will act.

News Eye@newseye.bsky.social

🚨Under the Ending Importation of Russian Oil Act 2022, Russian diesel CANNOT be imported into the U.S. unless the President certifies to Congress that Russia has withdrawn from Ukraine, acknowledged Ukraine's sovereignty & no longer poses a threat to NATO.🚨 (Credit: @jayinkyiv.bsky.social)
