Journal With Witch is an anime of the highest quality, exploring themes like grief, loneliness, & self-actualization in a way that feels deeply human. In this article, I write about how the show celebrates difference and the beauty of becoming your authentic self in a world that demands otherwise.

I'm 100% on board with Wind Breaker now. Episode 9 got me emotional. 10/10 episode, absolutely phenomenal. Interestingly, it looks like this episode got a lot of hate (over 1000 dislikes on Crunchyroll). I guess viewers were looking for a typical "epic fight"?

Men have souls. Men feel pain. But we live in a world where men are socialized to cut off their soul in pursuit of dominance/power. We need to remind men of their hearts. To encourage community, and to promote love. On that note, more people need to read bell hook's "The Will to Change."

It's interesting watching this at the same time I'm playing Part 2 of Requiem for Innocence. There are similar themes that connect the two.

I'm not sure if I can put into words the visceral emotions this music makes me feel. But it's something similar to above.

7 episodes into Wind Breaker. It was a bit of a slow start, but these recent episodes have gotten more and more interesting. It has potential to be a truly great anime. I'm curious to see how it continues to evolve.

Everything with Sako and Hiragi in episode 6 made me feel things. 💔 Being a big Liz and the Blue Bird fan, the "following" motif in this episode reminded me a lot of Mizore and Nozomi. 😭

This idea of wanting to understand another person's perspective, along with their thoughts and feelings, is at the heart of empathy. And it's something the game explores again and again. 💛 The conversation between these two has been very interesting.

My PC-98 inspired yuri visual novel "if you stay" is OUT NOW! It is available for free on Steam and itch.io (Windows, Mac, and Linux). Links below!

I want more media where men are allowed to be vulnerable, sensitive, emotionally open, and loving with each other. I think there's something beautiful about it, especially in our culture where male vulnerability is often equated with "weakness". (I feel like I'm about to step into my yaoi era 😅)

I'm 4 episodes into Wind Breaker and it's decently good so far, but there's still so much emphasis on fighting. I do love how it's critiquing harmful notions of masculinity, and providing alternatives that are rooted in community & connection. I like Umemiya. I love a guy who cares for plants. 🌿

The fact this feels like a return to the classic roots of the series, combined with the music, is really capturing my interest. I might actually purchase this to send a message to Square Enix that this is what I want out of the franchise. I do wonder if the story is good though.

Like, it's possible for a person to heal and find happiness after trauma. A traumatized person doesn't have to be depressed all the time. Alternatively, this character's happy persona could've been a mask used to cover up their pain. It's sloppy writing. Not what I expect from Fatamoru.

My life hasn't changed too much since I wrote that article. I'm still a NEET, going on more than 2 years now. But I've also been volunteering in my community, helping to restore the environment in local parks, and I'm also attending a support group for people who stutter.

Soon I hope to start applying to jobs again. I don't feel like I can function as well as other people... but hopefully I'll be able to work something out. I'll continue to have hope for the future.

And through that expression comes connection and community. The desire to be understood. The ability to understand others. And from that understanding comes the ability to love and care for each other. I will always believe in that love. No matter what.

I think anybody who feels different or outcast will struggle, at some time, with social isolation. But if we find some way to express ourselves, we'll never truly be alone. Art fulfills that connective function to me. And I'm forever be grateful to the artists who have helped me feel less alone.

As I got older, I hated myself for not being able to talk the same as others. I saw myself as weird... different, abnormal, defective. I saw myself as something to keep hidden from the world. I'm trying to become proud of my voice and who I am. But damn is it difficult at times.

I can't help but feel a sense of kinship with Oshimi and ceicocat. I deeply admire anyone who is able to express themselves beautifully through their craft. I think the ability to communicate, to express our inner-most thoughts and feelings, is at the core of what it means to be a great artist.

Most often, people think stuttering is something people do when they're nervous, anxious, etc. But it's also a neurological condition. For people with this condition, they may stutter at any time, even when they're not nervous or anxious. Our brains are structured differently from fluent speakers.

Hayden's words are exactly how I understand Jacopo's character arc. It's a trauma response. And it generally describes so many other characters as well.
