aight back from sub stack, u made some salient points, relevant points, you're not wrong. I fear this is a just, but lost cause, granted I'm a nihilist for me there's only one solution. the def of insanity is expecting different results from the same actions & I think thats where we are as a country

Not at all, I know Charles Blow has this whole push of reverse migration to the south, haven't been to the sub stack yet so this is the knee jerk reaction of a NYer, but ain't no way in hell I'm ever moving to the south. nice to visit, but I'd sooner move to another country (seriously been looking).

I love Charles Blow and love Outkast, Cyhi, Big Krit, love fish and grits but, respectfully,

I've seen too many terrible hot takes about The South. If we want to make this country better, we build in The South. We don't abandon it. Yeah, its gonna take a lot of hard work AND it will be worth it! I’m from The South and I got somethin’ to say about folks playin' in our faces.

Republicans want to spend a billion dollars on a ballroom while they rip healthcare away from 15 million Americans. If that's not a #HealthcareHeist then we don't know what is.

Remember when they told everyone taxpayers wouldn’t pay a penny?

In my new Substack, I lay out a pathway to build the good— affordable mortgages, small business credit, and real second chances. I'm naming the authors of this affordability crisis and the architects of solutions — and showing what happens when the river changes course.

open.substack.comRedirecting a River of Capital for Financial Peace Is Just Common SenseOn the affordability crisis, second chances, and why moving money through Black-owned MDIs and CDFIs is about financial peace

Financial hardship isn’t a personal failure when there are major financial institutions profiting from, and deepening unaffordability through extraction, predatory lending, & abandoning communities when politically convenient. This affordability crisis has authors, and they must be held accountable.

Huge. Laws like this were designed to punish investors for taking basic steps to address climate risk. @sierraclub.org statement: www.sierraclub.org/press-releas... (Also worth noting: the firms targeted were never actually “boycotting” fossil fuels—that was political misinformation all along.)

Texas Tribune@texastribune.org

A federal district judge on Wednesday declared Senate Bill 13 — a 2021 law restricting state investments in companies boycotting the fossil fuel industry — unconstitutional, calling it “facially overbroad” and citing First and Fourteenth Amendment concerns.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad. The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

What started as me prepping for the “Good Trouble: Laying the Blueprint for Next Gen Community Organizers” panel at Inclusive Capital Summit evolved into this letter to the next generation of organizers. A decade of lessons went into writing this letter over the last 2 months.

open.substack.comA Letter to the Next Generation of OrganizersOrganizing is both an art and a science, and to do our best we should be creative, strategic, and rested.

This is about building with the people around you, servant leadership, and treating strategy, data, and care as non-negotiables. If you’re organizing, thinking about organizing, or love someone who is, I hope you’ll read it and share it forward.

Turning the military on citizens. Attempting to rig elections. Toying with the idea of declaring martial law. Attacking political enemies and punishing those who speak out. If this were happening in another country, what would you call it?

More importantly, we have the opportunity to invite people and institutions into a shared vision of creating a system that is JUST & Regenerative, Building The Good. One that expands access for everyone, not just the well-connected.

These systems have been perfectly designed to achieve the result they are achieving. David Stroh made it clear when he said "No matter how dysfunctional a system appears to be, it is producing benefits for the people who participate in it."
