This drives me CRAZY. I grew up playing sports w/ boys. I played on a U12 boys select soccer team, b4 switching to a U12 girls team that kept beating us. Nobody had any issue with any of it. Youth sports have never had the strict sex/gender boundaries that “XX-XY” activists are now trying to defend.

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

When I was a kid getting cancer was nearly guaranteed to be lethal. I knew one cancer survivor, and it was a very close call. Now every single one of us knows multiple people who have survived very serious cancers. Thank the NIH for funding basic science and clinical studies.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

ICYMI: Democrats want to block the Trump administration from pressuring states to purge voters, citing how wrong they’ve been in the past. The suit calls out DHS’s claim that 16,000 Nevada voters were noncitizens, then just 185 – all of whom turned out to be citizens: https://demdock.com/4z27l6t

Perfectly happy to see Zacharia go. But it might be pointed out that if she had stayed, she would have done infinitely less damage to the nation than Hegseth, Kennedy, Blanche, Patel, Vought, et al. They should be as unacceptable as—more unacceptable than—Zacharia.

Immediately after ICE open fired at Bronx resident Oscar Belgal and his 5-year-old son, Chivona Newsome took to the street alongside hundreds of her neighbors to ensure Belgal wouldn't get taken from the hospital into ICE custody. Hear her message as NYPD block public streets to make way for ICE.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

On my morning walk yesterday I saw such an unusual sight, I had to stop for a picture! On a field trip later the same day, I heard the full story – this is the culmination of a 20 year collaborarive philanthropic effort to remove the old industrial dams and restore the rapids to the Grand River 👏👏👏

St. Sabina Catholic Church in Chicago has placed more than 100 crosses outside the parish. Each bears the name of someone who died in ICE custody or during an immigration enforcement action. Union workers built the traveling memorial, which began at Holy Name Cathedral last month.

Neutrality in the face of human rights abuses isn’t neutrality. It is siding with the oppressor and if our jobs, salaries, organizations, or institutions pressure us to be quiet—that’s on them and it is our job to deconstruct systems that force us to “be neutral” in the face of human rights abuses.

It is SO IMPORTANT that scientists, doctors, and folks in STEM speak out against human rights abuses for several reasons: 1. We cannot allow our tech and research to be used to harm people. 2. We are the seat of evidence when the case is made that harm was caused. 3. We are “experts”! Thread 🧵

Because they’re corrupt. Most GOP Supreme Court members perjured themselves in their confirmation hearings and should be impeached and tossed out of the court

“I have over 500 law policing agencies in the state of New York," Hochul said. "hundreds of thousands of arrests every year, but they don't shoot into vehicles not knowing what's inside. They don't shoot into vehicles at all. ..There are restraints on everybody else except for ICE."

"Regardless of whether or not someone has a criminal history, it is not lawful, it is not okay, to shoot a father in the afternoon with his son in the backseat. That is not how we resolve legal disputes in this country…courtrooms," -Harold Solis, a lawyer representing Belgal.

Pretty sure the worst domestic terrorist attack conducted on American soil, including 9/11, is the Reconstruction Terror, also known as the White Terror that took place during and after the reconstruction era where the overall death toll is estimated in the tens of thousands.

The CDC just re-opened a previously shelved study that would withhold the hepatitis B vaccine from children in Guinea-Bissau, despite decades of evidence showing it is safe and effective. This is a violation of human rights, using “science” to harm some of the most vulnerable people in the world.

I am not sure any lawyer involved with this can safely fulfill their ethical requirements of zealous representation? What happens when Stephen Miller calls the office every day? You know what Congress write a rider specifically designated the pre-existing counsel network.

Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

This is just a terrible take. Large chunks of the US government have been destroyed and rebuilding is the first order priority to ensure people get the services they need. The second to make sure it never happens again. Efficiency? Nope. We need a Marshall Plan for the US.

DOGE overhauled the federal workforce and slashed government spending — moves that inspired nationwide protests and lawsuits. The backlash has given Democrats nationally an opportunity to reclaim the government efficiency mantle.
