Head of music at @NoiseboxRadio.com. Not officially autistic but I did write "Sound of the Crowd: a Discography of the '80s" which is just 500 pages of '80s singles with all their different formats and catalogue numbers, so...

"All we've eaten for the last four bleeding weeks is gherkin soup, roast gherkin, steamed gherkin, braised gherkin in gherkin sauce, gherkin in the basket with sautéed gherkin, gherkin meringue pie, gherkin sorbet... we sit on gherkins, we sleep in gherkins, we even wear the bloody things!"

Some very odd things on this week's show, and I don't just mean the presenters.

Off The Chart@offthechart.show

Old records, the subject, of this week’s Off The Chart – much like every week then. They’re particularly old this week though, because we’re going all the way back to 1980 for two hours of obscure, forgotten and neglected hits. Join us at 9pm on @noiseboxradio.com! offthechart.show/20-october-1...

Alexei Sayle's Stuff (20th October 1988). "Well, we apologise for the absence of Alexei Sayle in this week's edition of Alexei Sayle's Stuff. We're attempting to right the problem, but in the meantime the programme will continue in Leslie Crowther only".

This is a terrible idea, unless you can watch them all at the same time and there are bits where they join up, otherwise no.

Pop Crave@popcrave.com

Sony is considering a same-day release for all four Beatles biopics. The studio is also weighing a four-pack ticket and combining the films' box office returns.

I always looked back on 1984 as a great year for pop music... until now! Join me and @babel17.bsky.social for a trawl through something of a fallow period for the UK singles chart in October 1984. 9pm on @noiseboxradio.com which you can listen to in loads of places, see noiseboxradio.com for details

If there’s something strange in your neighbourhood, who you gonna call? Not us, we’re far too busy looking at the UK singles chart from today in 1984. Join us for two hours of obscure, forgotten and neglected hits at 9pm on @noiseboxradio.com! offthechart.show/13-october-1...

Okay, picture uploads aren't working apparently, but do be sure to tune in to Off The Chart at 9pm when you'll wish audio uploads weren't working either. offthechart.show/6-october-1989/

Feeling a hot temptation to listen to this week’s Off The Chart? Then just walk right in to @noiseboxradio.com at 9pm for two hours of obscure, neglected and forgotten hits from the UK singles chart this week in 1989! Make sure you're right on time. offthechart.show/6-october-19...

Was this written by AI? It's absolute nonsense.

David Bryant@23daves.bsky.social

Rest In Peace Lena Martell, but this obit is a bit wayward surely (unless there's something I'm missing?) "The single sold almost three million copies and earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records when it stayed in the charts for 36 weeks" - surely neither of these things is true?

The BBC does genuinely seem to be trying to save money where it can; they scrapped an undercover investigation where Amol Rajan went out clubbing with a view to exposing the easy access to poppers because they didn't want to pay for the Amol night rate

Hoping to get through this week's show without any of the disasters that happened last week, wish me luck...

Off The Chart@offthechart.show

Join us at 9pm on @noiseboxradio.com for this week's Off The Chart as we go back to this day in 1983 for some of the lesser heard hits of that week. Hopefully this week everything will go smoothly and there'll be no more annoying cockups. offthechart.show/29-september...

Really sorry to hear this, he was indeed an STV legend.

INSTEAD WE ARE GOING TO POINT OUT VERIFIABLE HISTORICAL FACTS ABOUT THE KHANATE CULTURES AND THEIR ENCOUNTERS WITH THIRD GENDERS. BUCKLE THE FUCK UP JOANNE WIZARD SCHOOL IS IN SESSION AND YOU ARE LATE FOR A POTIONS CLASS.

Wow, it's almost as if she has no idea what she's talking about. Again.

Lane Stellmaker@hipcrimevocab.net

I don't know if Nelson Mandela ever spoke on trans or gender issues, but I can imagine the trajectory of his thought. As trans issues would anachronistic in the Khanate empires time, we shan't discuss what Genghis might have done...

Yes, it's been a fun weekend of editing at Off The Chart Heights, the music is all fine (well, audio quality wise, the music itself is variable as always) but some of the later links are a bit... iffy. Hope it doesn't spoil your "enjoyment" of the show too much. Join us at 9 and find out!

We're no strangers to technical cock-ups, you know the rules and so do we, so join us at 9pm on @noiseboxradio.com as we go back to this day in 1987! Two hours of lesser heard hits and shenanigans as usual; see if you can spot the point where the gremlins crept in. offthechart.show/22-september...

I would love to ask a prominent BBC journalist to give me an example of an illegitimate concern. Is seems to me that it has become a question not of fact, logic, or ethics but of volume. If a big enough proportion of a village was anxious about Bigfoot or Chemtrails, BBC would cover it in a way...

"So the puppets are called Muppets?" "Yes." "And they're putting on a show?" "Yes." "And it's called the Muppet Show?" "Yes." "Because it's a show, with Muppets?" "Yes." "But the show itself is the Muppet Show, but it's also a show in the Muppet Theatre, with Muppets?" "Yes." "....I don't get it."

DiscussingFilm@discussingfilm.net

There are currently no active conversations for a full ‘MUPPET SHOW’ series revival. Disney, The Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures have had difficulties with deciding on a premise for the series that they can all agree on. (Source: Deadline)

Absolute hypocrites. Built a 4 decade career out of playing the downtrodden minority and now they're punching down at another minority. In a paper so right wing Enoch Powell would think twice about being seen reading it. Walk 500 miles into the fucking sea.

Aw man, fuck The Proclaimers. How can they have written Sunshine on Leith and be massive fucking TERFs?

They did a song about four years ago called "Dentures Out", about how the right wing press brainwashes stupid people into blaming minorities for all the problems in the world. "Blame the Jocks and blame the Paddies, blame the scourge of absent daddies..." but it's fine to shit on trans people, yeah?

An '80s show hosted by me and @babel17.bsky.social you say? What could possibly go wrong? Find out at 9pm! See noiseboxradio.com for all the ways you can listen!
