I feel so sorry for the racists that thought they’d found a home in #ReformUK On the one hand they’re mostly racists, on the other hand you have Robert Jenrick talking about how Reform are in no way racist. Jenrick on #R4Today talking absolute shite.

In about a month we will see if America/USA really has become dictatorship. The #Midterms are going to show us how the majority of citizens view Trump and his lickspittle administration. I’m not holding my breath, because they knew exactly what they were getting when the elected him for a 2nd term.

Neoliberals want to end the triple-lock on state pension They inflict low wages, consign millions to poverty. Govt spending on state pension as % of GDP in G7 countries. Italy 12.8 France 12 Germany 9.8 Japan 8.9 USA 6.6 Canada 4.7 UK 4.7 UK has one of the least generous pensions in the G7.

adviserservices.fidelity.co.uk How does the UK State Pension measure up globally? A global comparison of State Pension provision highlights the onus on individuals in the UK to build pension savings for their retirement, rather than leaving

First ever home roasting of coffee beans. The smell was as good as you’d expect. The degrees of roast in the same batch is quite variable. Will wait several days before grinding and tasting though to allow for gassing off. #Coffee #HomeRoasted #CoffeeSky

It looks like we currently spend double on US imports than the US spends on UK exports. Help me out here, who will sanctions hit most? Also, I think Canada might be happy to supply goods and services as well as join us in sanctions against Isreal. Reduced reliance on a fickle ally is good, right?

Pro tip: If a politician can’t criticize Israel or Russia, or call for them to follow international law, the country they’re refusing to talk about is 100% bribing and/or blackmailing them. You do not want that person in government; you want them under investigation or in prison.

FUN FACT If we switched to all renewable energy, the number of ships crossing the ocean would fall almost in half, slashing global CO2 emissions. Because those ships are JUST carrying coal, oil and gas. ~ Bill McKibben SUPPORT ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES!

Just heard a bond manager on R4 say that removing the triple lock would improve the bond market. So reducing Europe’s smallest pension to some of our most vulnerable citizens would cheer up the the guys on 6 figure salaries. We really don’t have our priorities straight #R4

So sick of hearing BBC’s rhetoric around the threats to the Triple Lock. How about we talk about taxing billionaires and global tax dodgers like Starbucks, instead some of the most vulnerable and defenceless members of our society. The money is clearly there, it’s just in the wrong hands #R4Today

Well I hope your day is off to a better start than mine. I’ve got conjunctivitis in both eyes. I just put Otex earwax remover in my right eye, instead of the antibiotic eye drops it should have been. I can report that, whilst this does hurt like a mofo, sinuses are much clearer.

1/2 Tragic report of the findings into the inquest of Chloe Moffat, who died aged 26. Chloe was accused by colleagues in the workplace who remained anonymous. This raises alarm bells in itself regarding possible bullying (of Chloe) but the fact that was in a disciplinary hearing without notice

that is was such, and without the right to be accompanied, is despicable of HM Treasury. What did surprise me in both the BBC article and #R4Today no one is saying how Union membership could have supported and advised Chloe. Any Editor worth their salt might have addressed this, but not the BBC’s

When I see commentators using terms like “DEI” I immediately suspect that they’re trying to ignite a US inspired (and maybe funded?) culture war here. Because the acronym used in the UK is EDI - equality, diversity, inclusion - linked to the equality act 2010. www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2010/1...

If you want to, it’s easy to add your name to the open letter calling for a public inquiry into the tragic death of Professor Jason Arday. It’s not about us feeling better, but, hopefully, getting some properly reasoned answers. goodlaw.social/625453
