My first story collection, GREENER PASTURES, will be reissued in 2027 to mark 10 (!) years with @apexmag.bsky.social. A contemporaneous novelette will be added, new foreword + notes. Iโ€™m still so proud of this book, even prouder that readers have never stopped finding it across more than a decade.

The number of True Crime documentaries and podcasts that wouldn't exist, if only cops were actually competent Almost every time they get a "break in the case" it's because someone comes forward, or the criminal makes a sloppy mistake- it has nothing to do with their "investigative work"

Just had an idea for an homage to Mucha... Using a pose and incorporating the nouveau style but doing it in a "me" way So I looked up the print I have hanging on my studio wall for inspiration, because that's sorta the pose I want... Only to discover the painting is called "Muse of Painting" ๐Ÿคฏ

It's really off-putting to consider the reality of whether or not you (or your pet, or your relative, etc) get BETTER when something goes awry is entirely dependent on the previously learned knowledge; the CURRENT level of knowledge, & the biases (both good and bad) of whomever you take them to see

Like, I am having a really hard time trusting in the 'expertise' of ANYONE now, but especially medical professionals, when the longer I am around the more it seems like a) a guessing game b) too many people are wholly trusting of info & tech that should NOT be trusted

They say there's no algorithm but every new Bluesky update fucks w the amount of ppl who see my posts: sometimes in a good way; sometimes bad, but it always tweaks it in some way so sorry, I call bullshit *Not talking about the posts *I* see, although I also have thoughts abt the 'Following' feed)

Well at least today I drew & managed to be creative & finished a book written entirely by a human & will now watch something created by a bunch of imaginative and knowledgable people So that's a win Especially in a world that seems bound and determined to make all of this extinct &/or worthless

The levels of this being one of the most sad, infuriating, & absurd things I've ever read just keep on rippling, creating ripples of ripples that will eventually collapse on & eat themselves But the #1 thing she could have put was that her 10 yr old daughter wouldn't need to use AI to answer this

๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿฆ‡ The second Artwork I made for Crossroads, Issue 2, for a piece on the murder ballad "The Twa Sisters" ๐ŸŽถ And he made a little fiddle of her breastbone Oh, the wind & rain The sound could melt a heart of stone Crying oh the dreadful wind & rain ๐ŸŽถ

Okay, it's out now so I can share! One of the Artworks I made for the Crossroads Folk Horror zine, Issue 2: The Devil Has the Best Tunes Watercolor on Arches ๐Ÿ˜ˆ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿฆ‡ Get a copy of the @crossroadsfolk.bsky.social zine here- it's fantastic :) โฌ‡๏ธ crossroads-folkhorror.bigcartel.com/product/issu...

"Ethical" AI models is an oxymoron No matter what they do, or who they ask for help, this cannot exist as they were implemented using stolen knowledge and everything they do perpetrates & imitates the worst impulses of their creators Glorified cheaters & hackers trying to crack humanity's code

Bought Friedkin's SORCERER over a year ago when it came out in 4K & have never seen/watched it. Was saving it for when the time felt right- I am now at a point in OTHER WORLDS THAN THESE where this seems like something I should do very soon. Echoes, as someone says. Now to convince the Other...

Cleaned up my art area, put all my assorted art supplies away, did some first aid on some pens, pulled out all the things I need NOW, grabbed all the frames I'll need to trace the art areas I have to work with... & now that I'm actually ready to make some Art, I'm not mentally in a creative space ๐Ÿ˜†

Article about how candy sales are down 6.7% from last year Also in the article: "As of September, candy and gum prices were up 44% over a five-year period, according to government data. Prices for all food eaten at home rose 22.5% in the same period." Gee, so hard to pinpoint WHAT the issue is ๐Ÿค”

๐ŸŽฅ๐ŸฉธTHE CYCLE is on Shudder & you should watch it. I'm deliberately not sharing the poster art because it's best to go in totally blind but if you want a creepy, fun, twisty tale filled with clever, fantastic practical effects and strong performances, this is a perfect "get-ready for Halloween" watch.

An anonymous poet wrote a ribald parody of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven," published in 1927 as "The Mortal." The poem went through many hands and was reprinted in different forms in subsequent decades. This blogpost presents four variations of the slightly nsfw poem. deepcuts.blog/2026/10/24/l...

deepcuts.blogLost Tale: โ€œThe Mortalโ€ (1927) by AnonymousEldritch Fappenings The following historical poetry is of a ribald nature, with both suggestive and explicit references to human sexuality. It is presented uncensored, as originally published. Readโ€ฆ

Listened to this today and it was a great listen. Made me miss Art Bell, back when a lot of the conspiracy theories in the ether were mostly fun, harmless things to get the heebie-jeebies from on AM radio

Eight years since we dreamed it up, 2 1/2 since we recorded our pilot. Sometimes a passion project takes seemingly forever, but comes along exactly when you need it. Today is the day, folks. Available wherever you get your podcasts. It is midnight in America, and you are listening to Midnight Radio.
