Tried to pick up an N95 on the way to work from a pharmacy today and they didn't have any but also seemed a little surprised by the question. Is that not a reasonable place to buy a N95?

I always feel the need to stand on my pedals on the decline of the bridge. Is it just to feel the wind in my hair? or is it to assert my dominance over the larger, slower moving vehicles?

At the soccer field by Horizon Elementary yesterday, bunch of 3-7 years old playing. Out of nowhere an unleashed German Shepard-like dog charged the length of the field, no owner in sight. Bee-lined for the kids, destroyed their ball and then ran back to now in view owner. Owner shrugs sorry, leaves

Like what the actual fuck? Who lets their dog loose on the grounds of an elementary school without checking to see if there are kids or other users there first?

I guess there's a notable weight difference to the rarer blind box bao bun squishy toys? My son was buying one and a staff member came over said we should get the one she was handing us instead, and remarked on the weight. Lo and behold my kid was pumped about the one he opened. Thanks kind lady!

Hmm hearing some rumours of ECEs, TAs and other school support staff going on strike in NS soon. Anyone have any info on that? (fully support them, just curious if we should have the grandparents on standby)

Learned a new move today, instead of waiting for the very slow 2 stage turn onto the bridge at Wyse, you just scoot down to the mid-block crosswalk, press the button, and are from A to B in half the time. (I've seen faster methods, but none that are strictly legal)

We're into October, single digit temps, and the bike racks are still bursting at this ~200 kid school. Looked like at least 15% of the students arrived by bike today.

Off to Martock for a kids running race, we were thinking of doing the chairlift after for the fall fest, have never done it during fall colours, but the lack of family pricing is a little offputting

Any parents out there with audio media service recommendations for a 7 year old? Was looking at Pinna or Gabb maybe, something with some educational stuff but also music.

Helping out with my kids' beavers this year. Tonight we took the ferry over for a quick waterfront visit. On the way back they all got invited up to the wheelhouse of the ferry and got to take turns sitting in the captain's chair. Pretty cool, thanks @hfxtransit.bsky.social

Have seen a lot of complaints about not enough parking at the ferry terminals, so was curious about DIY park n rides to Woodside. You could park at Woodside Plaza, has 6 buses an hour, 5min route to Woodside. Or Millstone Sq (Baker Dr), 8 min route, twice hourly but only 5min connection.

Just....you know...absolutely one of the worse traffic mornings I've seen since I started working here There's no way around any of this. Work from home if you can #HFXTraffic

Don't worry all, we're getting AI maps now that don't properly show the routes or detours so that should solve everything.

Getting so close to convincing some family members out of their cars due to this traffic. Take the ferry "No parking" Bike to the ferry "No secure parking" Bird to the ferry "..." Honestly, still think bird rentals should count as transit transfers

Boo found a smashed bottle on the path to my kids' school today. At least it was found in time to clean it up before the bike bus in the morning though.

We tend to go all in on stuff when the boys get interested in something. Picked up a variety of TMNT content from the library last night and its been a big hit. The Booyakasha Books in particular seem like a good fit for their age, fun and approachable.

Graphic novels round 2: picked up a couple "Mighty Marvel Team-Up" books which seem great for ~5-7, and "It's Jeff!" which doesn't have a ton of dialogue but is pretty cute.

It was a great morning for #KidicalMassHFX and there was a huge turnout. I had so much fun that I forgot to take a picture. But this is basically what it looked like:

Great time at FamFest Atlantic today. The music and activities were a huge hit and then just as we thought the boys were out of steam they were revitalized by the silent disco. Recommend checking out tomorrow!

September is my favorite time of year. Summer activities are over, fall ones haven't started yet. Can just chill out and bike to playgrounds, etc each evening. (Ngl maybe we sign the kids up for too many activities)

A friend driving by spotted us on a patio on Agricola. I, biking, minutes later, caught up to him at the last red before the bridge. He passed me while I looped around to the bike lane. I passed him again on the straight. He passed me while I waited for the 2 phase cross at Wyse. I passed him again

Not sure where this is going but basically I got passed everytime the bike infrastructure was needlessly complicated. Also, Dartmouth Commons gate was chained and locked, that a September thing?

Today is my last commute through Burnside, kind of excited. See ya never! (jk I'll probably still find reasons to bike through it but hopefully bi-monthly instead daily).

I don't understand the leave you car running mindset. Three for three vehicles at my kids day care did so this morning. It's 15 degrees out, not too hot, not too cold. One minivan was running, on the street, with its sliding door wide open. Obviously not for climate control reasons.

My eldest says he's too old for a Yepp seat now that hes going into grade 2, so our days of rocking the double Yepp are over and we've moved into the cushion+pegs era

Just put an order in for another set of Bike Bus stickers for the fall. This time, I made the background a different colour to delineate them from previous ones. Pretty confident that in the kids eyes, I'm now committed to providing different coloured stickers every fall.

Decided to try a bird bike home instead of a scooter tonight. Oh man they're bad on hills. 8km/h going up Waverley Rd. No wonder people drive them on the sidewalks. They either need gears or some more juice.

There's this copse of trees on the property next to my office that badly needs a picnic table in the middle of it. Or maybe I just need to stash a camp chair at work...

Earlier today, driver behind me clearly on his phone at a red. Doesn't notice it turn green, big delay following me. Catches up but same thing next light. Road has a slight curve next, leaves lane twice. Pulls in behind me at the daycare to pick up his ~three year old. Infuriating.

We're watching mtb videos (Asa Vermette's Ascent) and my three year old goes "I can do the pump track but I don't think I can do that." as Asa hits a 75ft gap. Maybe someday buddy. (but not if he inherited my coordination)
