This one is 💥👌 Fans of Ian Allen books with colour photos of 50s/60s buses in damp scenes will dig this. Heavy things painted with cream enamel in fog/smog etc

THE HEXHAM HEADS: In 1976, BBC early evening magazine show Nationwide aired a segment about a real-life folk horror story. Stone heads unearthed from a garden, paranormal activity and werewolves abound in this notorious report, thought lost until 2024...

Obvs now remembering this particular moment from Children of the Stones which freaked the fuck out of me and set my nipper brain jangling in pleasurably scary ways for a long time afterwards. This still feels more like surrealism than straight up horror/supernatural biz.

I think this might have been the moment that the "unrealistic constructions and effects that might be dismissed as unconvincing are more disturbing/thrilling if taken as literal, ie they are their own thing" switch was thrown

This is bloody great (but a bit pricey 😬). Dunno why it's taken so long for me to discover/get Phyllida Barlow. Piles! Lumps! Sticks! Slabs!

Leave them be! 🍂🐭 At this time of year, wildlife is making use of fallen leaves to shelter, find food, and make cosy hibernation chambers to prep for the long winter ahead. If you must clear leaves, move them to one side rather than remove them completely. 📷Yellow Necked Mouse © Alan Price

I finally got to go inside Battersea Power Station today, that temple to power converted to a cathedral of capitalism. My late Dad did his apprenticeship there back in the day - I wonder what he would have made of it all. Anyway, here is an old GLC model that was on display:

It's still summer in my head, and my Radburn Idea books are still £7 each, including postage. Modern housing, modern citizens, a modern world for all! AI free!

Last night's dream: on suburban road with pal, looked up to see a flying, L shaped barge pass over our heads. It stopped nearby and we watched as a large metal spring was flung out over the side and dropped into a small electrical substation nestled among the bungalows.

Got this for maybe-a-bit-more-than-it-deserves-but-not-ridiculous amount. Pretty slender, smallish, mostly b&w, not as many pics as I'd like BUT a few nice ones in there.

If closing surely the least expensive radio channel the BBC has (run by a tiny number of people, broadcasting the work of mainly dead people), bothers you, then why not sign this petition you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

you.38degrees.org.ukSave Radio 4 ExtraRadio 4 Extra is a fabulous showcase of the BBC's phenomenal archive of radio comedy and drama, fields in which the Corporation is an undoubted pioneer, with a reputation for quality rivals woud envy ...

Not sure how much money closing Radio 4 extra will save. I am happy to forgo my £22 a year from repeat fees if that helps.
