AAPIs are one of the fastest-growing voting populations in the country, yet they remain among the most overlooked by political campaigns. A small number of votes could determine who holds power in Congress — and AAPI voters can make the difference in competitive congressional districts nationwide.

Because of these delays, people who’ve spent thousands of dollars & several years going through the application process to immigrate to the U.S. the “right” way could still be subjected to ICE’s cruel arrests & detentions. They’re also being denied their right to vote in the upcoming midterms.

The midterm elections are two weeks away, and Asian voters have the incredible power to be the deciding vote for a new majority in Congress. In fact, there are over 1.2 million eligible Asian voters in Texas — that's 5% of the Texas electorate. asamnews.com/2026/10/19/m...

asamnews.comTexas Asian American voters could play role in tight Senate race – AsAmNewsAs Texas U.S. Senate race tightens (Ken Paxton - James Talarico),, Asian American voters may be key swing bloc in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio.

We can fight back against the rampant xenophobia we're seeing from Republicans like Ken Paxton. We can use our votes to elect leaders who will use our tax dollars to invest in our communities and not ICE.

Qingfang Pang came to the US from China to pursue his passion for basketball. Today, he faces an uncertain future in one of ICE's horrific prisons. While traveling to New York to reunite with loved ones and complete visa paperwork, he was kidnapped by ICE and detained miles away in Louisiana.

This is yet another example of how Trump is weaponizing our immigration system against people of color and constantly changing the rules to detain and deport as many people as possible. And it's students like Qingfang who are paying the price.

According to an analysis of Stop AAPI Hate reporting center data, anti-immigrant hostility appeared in the majority (62%) of reported anti-Asian hate acts in the first half of 2026, up from 42% in 2023 — before Trump’s re-election campaign ramped up.

Violence against South Asian people isn't inevitable. It's fueled when leaders stoke fear of immigrants and people of color for political gain. We call on elected officials of every party to condemn this attempted mass shooting and hold Trump accountable for his xenophobic rhetoric and policies.

Authorities have revealed disturbing new details about the attempted mass shooting targeting Indian people at the largest Hindu temple in Aurora, IL. Last Sunday, the temple was full of worshipers when 19-year-old Alexandros Paporakis arrived with a rifle and other weapons.

Paporakis attempted to open fire but left after discovering his gun was jammed and was later arrested. In an 8-page manifesto, he allegedly used racial slurs, expressed plans for a “mass shooting of Indian people,” and “took pleasure” in calling himself “a sociopathic white supremacist Neo-Nazi.”

This is exactly what we feared, after years of documenting escalating hate against South Asian communities under the Trump administration. This horrific mass murder plot comes at a time when South Asian communities nationwide face heightened racism, xenophobia, and bigotry.

The Trump regime claims that DHS doesn’t arrest U.S. citizens — but a new report from ProPublica shows otherwise. Their investigation found over 500 cases of violent ICE arrests of U.S. citizens, including some Asian Americans.

56-year-old Hmong American Chongly “Scott” Thao is one of them. Earlier this year, he was kidnapped by ICE agents from his home in nothing but his underwear and a blanket because he matched the description of someone they were targeting. www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/ne...

But Thao’s wrongful arrest was no coincidence. It was the direct consequence of a 2025 Supreme Court ruling allowing ICE to racially profile people. These arrests are proof that attacks against immigrants have never been about legality, but racism. Read the full article

Asian American and Pacific Islander communities have always changed America for the better — from the farmworkers who fought for the labor rights we have today to the activists who sparked a national movement against racist hate during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This November, we have another opportunity to make history. AAPI voters have the power to shape who controls Congress and the future of our country — but only if we all show up and cast our ballots.

We join over 40 AAPI leaders in urging you to: 1) register to vote, 2) call APIA Vote’s hotline if you face issues while voting, and 3) continue supporting organizations like Stop AAPI Hate Action and the Asian American Power Network, which are building long-term AAPI political power. Read more ⬇️

ICE agents terrorize and shoot people with impunity to fulfill Trump's disgusting anti-immigrant agenda. ICE has already shot and killed at least eight people during Trump's second term — and last night in New York, Oscar Belgal and his son almost died because of ICE's recklessness.

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

No one is safe when armed agents invade our cities, conceal their identity, & attack people on the street based soley on the color of their skin or the language they speak. We echo the calls of @mayor.nyc.gov & other leaders nationwide for transparency & accountability before ICE takes another life.

She is not alone. Our recent data analysis shows that Indonesian immigrants are the most targeted Asian communities in terms other than detention rate. Monica is one of many who have lived & built a life in the U.S. for decades only to find herself swept up in Trump's vicious anti-immigrant agenda.

James Talarico is facing Republican nominee Ken Paxton: A staunch Trump loyalist with a long history of scandal and abuse as a career politician and a record of backing racist, xenophobic legislation.

Our team was honored to stand alongside faith leaders and families of people who have been detained by ICE as they ended their 8-day pilgrimage, spanning 96 miles between two ICE prisons in CA: the Adelanto Detention Center in the Mojave desert and the Metropolitan Detention Center in Downtown LA.

Manjusha Kulkarni@manjushakulkarni.bsky.social

@aapiequityalliance.bsky.social & @stopaapihateaction.org staff were honored to join CLUE & @chirla-org.bsky.social & friends at @lavoice.bsky.social SAN & @publiccounsel.bsky.social for the pilgrimage to stand up for immigrant communities against ICE detentions & deportations.

Our A/PI ICE tracker shows that 25% of Asian ICE arrests happened in California, which has the largest Asian population of any state nationwide. As Trump continues to send armed federal agents to terrorize our cities nationwide, we deserve the full truth about how our communities are being impacted.

Nolan Wells was a Black & Filipino American teen whose life was cut way too short. Now his grieving parents are facing racism and vitriol in their pursuit of justice. We're in solidarity with Christine & Elmore Wells Wonsley as they continue searching for the truth about what happened to their son.

Black people and communities of color know all too well the pain of being ignored and attacked for merely seeking answers. We strongly condemn the harassment against the Wells Wonsley family and echo their demands for a transparent, timely, and thorough investigation.

ICE is opening a new prison in Alexandria, LA dedicated to detaining & deporting unaccompanied minors. If that isn't horrifying enough, it's being built on a site linked to high levels of "forever chemicals," or PFAS, which can cause health problems over time, especially in children.

nytimes.comNew Facility at Louisiana Airport to Hold Immigrant Children and FamiliesThe site in Alexandria, La., a major expansion of the Trump administration’s busiest deportation hub, will streamline and accelerate removals.

This is on top of the well-documented history of neglect, severe weight loss, developmental delays, & depression for children detained at ICE's awful Dilley Family Detention Center in TX. The LA prison camp will supercharge the fear, pain, & trauma that immigrant children & their loved ones face.
