Andy Burnham wins Makerfield with a 20% lead over Reform UK. But this result wasn't just about Burnham. It was shored up by thousands of Green and Lib Dem voters who crossed party lines to keep the far-right out, delivering the Labour candidate an outright majority.🧵

🚨 It’s too close to call in Makerfield! Help us to mobilise the progressive vote in these final few days. Result from @opiniumresearch.bsky.social's survey of local voters: 🌹 Burnham (Labour): 46% ➡️ Kenyon (Reform UK): 41% The rest: trailing well behind. 5pt gap. Margin of error: ~5pts. It's tight.

Our statement on the elections

Over half a million people visited StopReformUK.vote in the run up to the 7th May elections – proof that people are seeking advice on how to vote tactically, putting the greater good ahead of their own party loyalties. Thank you to everyone who voted tactically to stop Reform! (or the Tories)

Do not miss your chance to vote! We might not have all tactical voting advice ready before the polls close so please don't risk your chance to vote by waiting for us. The most important thing is that you vote.

If necessary, take a guess at who is most likely to be the tactical choice in your area — you have a good chance of being right. And even if it is not the “correct” tactical vote, every vote will still help to outnumber Reform.

Some people are quoting this and calling us "frauds" or insinuating that one incorrect recommendation means none of our recommendations can be trusted - or even that tactical voting does not work. We are legitimate. We are accurate. Tactical voting works. All 3 of these statements are proven (1/3)

We don't have a crystal ball so we aren't going to be 100% accurate. This is logical. If Southampton beat Arsenal in the FA Cup does that mean the bookies are frauds? Of course not. The vast majority of our advice is correct. There is no better, more trustworthy source of advice for May. (2/3)
