Criticizing Israel and its behavior and policies, even very sharply, isn’t bigoted. Reflexively responding to any mention of Jews, Judaism, Jewish history or culture, or the Jewish community with demands to denounce Israel is absolutely bigoted and also unhinged.

I don’t really know what I expect in posting this, but maybe some people see it and can learn from it. I’ll call it “lessons from an unwilling immigration attorney.” 1/

Unless FIFA pulls the World Cup from the US, countries should pull their teams from the tournament. If countries refuse to pull out then players should pull out. If the tournament goes ahead as planned then broadcasters should boycott it.

Regardless, viewers should boycott. Turn it off. Make the viewing figures so low that advertisers pull their business. Make it ruinous for everyone involved.

There isn’t a dungeon deep enough, dark enough or dank enough for those responsible for this.

He was a Good Samaritan — and they murdered him for it. Now they’re trying to rewrite his history. They want to smear him. To dehumanize him. Don’t let them. 2/2

We really need to ban foreign donations to political parties or politicians.

Bizarrely, the interestingly named TomTom Tom device only works with the free app, and not the TomTom Go “expert” app. So I thought I’d check out the free app. I regularly drive from The Cotswolds to Cornwall, about 150 miles. They’ve lost their damned mind. #TomTom

Mamdani is going to implement Shh Aria law. Everyone will have to sing solo opera works, quietly.

Mamdani is going to implement My Sharona law. Everyone will have to create songs with undeniable rock beats.

Brought my old Technics CD player out from its retirement in the attic. Cleaned the lens and had to manually spin the motor to get it going but all good now and it sounds superb. #Technics #CDPlayer #HiFi

Had a conversation with an ex-colleague about a manager… Ex colleague: “They’re a goat” Me: “The goat?” Them: “No, a goat. As in a goat in a tree. You wonder, How the fuck did they get into that position and more importantly, how are they still there?!”

I think this is exactly right. Worse, politicians are in thrall to technocrats

Eliot Higgins@eliothiggins.bsky.social

I think Labour’s problem is that, as power has shifted to technocrats over recent decades, its ambitions have shrunk to chasing populist policies shaped by an algorithmically skewed version of public opinion, one amplified by rage-bait rather than grounded in reality.

It's funny what we can and can't do when money is involved. The markets trump all, even life and death. And politicians wonder why they don't have moral legitimacy anymore.

“Cheery was aware that Commander Vimes didn't like the phrase 'The innocent have nothing to fear', believing the innocent had everything to fear, mostly from the guilty but in the longer term even more from those who say things like 'The innocent have nothing to fear'.” -Terry Pratchett

If Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom aren’t making plans to counter the risk of the fifth eye being totally untrustworthy then we are all fucked.

Not everyone can fight Trumpism and Trumpists directly. But remember this: kindness, decency, and fidelity to American values are defiance in the face of Trumpism. So be kind, decent, and faithful, particularly to the many kinds of people despised and attacked by Trumpists. That’s revolutionary./1
