A lot of progress today. One of the core mechanics in the game will be using nature energy to manipulate the environment in different ways. This is the start of that system being showcased in raising a bridge! Lots of secrets and surprises for the players will use this system. #godot #gamedev

Today I have been working on controller support and I have implemented a pressure plate system that lets me set as many plates to the door as I want. One major feature left before I can start building out some test levels! #godot #gamedev #indiegame #ukgamescene

Day 3 of dev (I guess we a series now?) busy work day today so only got time this evening to work on the game. I improved the snapping ladder so itโ€™s more natural and implemented a push and pull block! Really happy with the progress, hopefully more puzzle work tomorrow. #gamedev #godot #indiegame

Day 2 of dev on my game. Iโ€™ve made some big progress todayโ€ฆ Interaction system, doors and climbing. I have also refined the camera system. A big part of the game is cinematic vistas and Iโ€™m getting there ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿซถ #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Day 1 of converting my unreal game into Godotโ€ฆ Iโ€™m bloody coding, blueprints made this character controller super complicated but in GDScript it was so much easier to understand. #godot #gamedev #indiedev #projectleaf

Hey recruiters, please don't give people unsolicited negative feedback following an interview unless the candidate directly asks for it. Especially when the interview was pretty awful, I hope my returned unsolicited feedback helps you improve. Cheers.

And the layoffs continue โ€ฆ

Total US consumer spending on video games jumped 12% to $5.3 billion in March 2026, while first quarter spending rose by 5% year-on-year to $14.6 billion Hardware sales drove these gains, rising 69% to $500 million due to strong Nintendo Switch 2 performance www.gamesindustry.biz/us-hardware-...

Tuesday I announced something I have dreamed of since I was a kid. I launched my own indie game studio! I decided itโ€™s time to take a bet on myself and see where it goes. I am incredibly proud of myself and excited for the future. #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame

I do a lot of university outreach and quite often students ask about the industry and routes in. How can anyone recommend it when it is in the state itโ€™s in right now? I have struggled to balance being realistic and still keeping their motivation.

doesn't matter how much work you put in, how much you love it, how much you sacrifice you will never be as important as 'profit', or as 'growth' they don't deserve your passion. clock in, clock out. find the time and energy to make what you want to make. not for profit. for the sake of creating.

the game's principal engineer since 2017, evan kinney, who has been the backbone and spirit of this game for nearly a decade has been laid off. this is fucking bullshit, dude. i'm fucking done.

You can't even work for one of the most successful companies in the entire world and not face unsecure work. This industry needs a complete reset. We need wide spread unionisation. I am so sorry for those affected by the layoffs today. It is shit.

I worked so damn hard to break into games and while I loved my time, the whole corporate industry is riddled with opportunists who play fast and loose with people's livelihoods. No accountability, no ownership of terrible mistakes. Everyone can see the terrible decisions, why cant you?

The games industry is mentally exhausting in every aspect. Studying, trying to get a job, maintaining skills, managing workload when getting said job, getting laid offโ€ฆ all of it is so damaging. We need significant change.

I would really like to chat with people who have taken the step to start their own studio, I wanna hear the good, the bad and the ugly. I think it would really help my current headspace. I appreciate any time you can spare, my DMs are open ๐Ÿซถ #indiedev #gamedev #indiestudio

I thought Iโ€™d handled burnout before, but recent months proved me wrong. I got stuck in a cycle of working and sleeping, feeling like I wasnโ€™t moving forward and my mental health was crumbling. I stepped back, reassessed, and started making healthier choices. Itโ€™s slow, but Iโ€™m moving again.

I'm sad to share that I have cancelled the game that I have been working on for the last couple of years. Progress had completely stalled and I felt like the game had no direction or point of view. I've started working on a little narrative driven game, something I'm truly passionate about.โœจ๐Ÿƒ

Creating games is my creative outlet, especially when working as a producer and not being able to find the motivation to do it has been hurting my soul. It has been a tough few years, personal loss, industry chaos and a game that had no soul... I want to get back to creating worlds and stories. ๐Ÿƒ

I've been through the darkest times over the last 15 months and I am beyond proud of myself for not only pushing through, but also exceeding my own expectations I am determined to channel this drive into my own game this year. If I can achieve last year, I can do anything. #gamedev #indiedev
