The whole “my boyfriend/husband/etc is my unpaid intern 😊” thing at art markets is so demeaning. Gals, you are strong and capable, and if my 90lb 4’11” little self can set up and tear down my display solo then so can you. I don’t do my spouse’s job for him, and I don’t need him to do mine!

My favorite thing about making an Instagram dedicated specifically to my “Places” project is that a couple of well known local influencers now follow me but ALSO accounts such as “GR Bathrooms” and “Birds of GR” follow me too. Being part of a city-specific shtick is funny.

I have no way of knowing if it's related but ever since I redesigned my website, work has been coming in way more consistently than before. Busy and grateful for it after an abysmal first quarter.

I have been self-employed for seven years and people still think I work at my old job (somehow even people who met me after I stopped working there).

I've been cold-emailing and applying to more opportunities lately instead of passively waiting for work to come to me, and I can't say I'm super confident that all or any of them will pan out but something feels really good about practicing the skill of writing about myself and my work.

My housekeeper is doing a terrible job lately (it’s me, I’m my housekeeper)

$1B per day is about $42 million per hour. About 30 min worth of that spending can fund my lab for my ENTIRE career (~20 3-year NSFs or ~10 5-year R01s). Please wrap your head around that.
