Now's a good time to add contribution guidelines to your repo and let people know AI slop PRs are not welcome. 1/3 🧵 #mcdev

Recently our repos have been getting flooded with PRs obviously written by agents and I'm tired of playing the detective distinguishing human code from hallucinations. Today, I've added an org-wide contribution policy that (among others) explicitly disallows AI generated PRs. 2/3 🧵 #mcdev

Should Modrinth keep allowing AI content on their platform? Just today I saw this among new projects and to my disappointment, the staff immediately shut down any criticism and doubled down on their pro-AI stance. I really don't think this looks good nor that it should be allowed.

The first response I received from a staff member was extremely dismissive and curt, without any reason behind the decision. They shut down the entire convo just as fast. The message was simple - do not question our rules or talk back.

I'm fairly sure that I'm not the only one who feels heavy AI content does not belong on platforms hosting genuine mods someone put effort worth hundreds of hours into. Such content undermines the value of real mods and will cause unnecessary bugs a real human has to spend time fixing.

Modular Force Field System is now available for 26.1.2! In addition to the port, we've also rolled out updates for 1.21 and 1.20 with lots of bugfixes and even a few new features. #mcdev

Sinytra Connector is now available for Minecraft 26.1.2! Thanks to changes in the game and loader code, you can expect an even smoother experience with better cross-mod compatibility than in previous versions. #mcdev #moddedmc

Chat Control 1.0 passed despite a majority voting against it (314:276), ushering in suspicionless mass scanning of your private communications until 2028. Regrettably, Roberta Metsola's brazen and undemocratic actions jeopardise the legitimacy of the EU. The battle against Chat Control 2.0 begins!

Working on FFAPI transfer compat between Neo and Fabric. Now that Neo has its own transaction API we can finally make a full bridge, while previously some parts had to be left out. #mcdev #ffapi

Fabric developers, ever wanted to use Connector to port your mod to Neo, but felt worried about its potential side-effects? Check out our latest release, Launchpad!

Unlike Connector, it does not make any changes to your mod on its own and requires explicit opt-in from the mod developer. It leaves you in full control over your mod and has effectively no runtime overhead.

Fabric developers, ever wanted to use Connector to port your mod to Neo, but felt worried about its potential side-effects? Check out our latest release, Launchpad!

Launchpad is a small tool that lets you bring your mod to NeoForge without writing any platform-dependent code. Your mod metadata, entrypoints, class tweakers, registration code etc. stay the same.

The Forgified Fabric API now available for Minecraft 26.1.2! This is a full port from scratch. Thanks to changes in the vanilla game, Fabric and NeoForge APIs, there should be an improvement in compatibility over previous versions. #mcdev #moddedmc github.com/Sinytra/Forg...

This marks the completion of the first step in our porting efforts for the Connector mod family. Next up, we'll be working on a brand new library that will act both as a base for Connector and a porting tool for mod developers.

I'm interested to see how this goes in the long run. Surely, it might not be the most popular decision right now, but I can imagine it wasn't a light one to make either. 🧵

I think the team did what they believe is best for the platform in the long term, and making hasty conclusions now would only waste that effort.

Not to mention the Modrinth team has by far actively listened to user feedback, so I think there's no need to worry about the platform's "entshittification". Especially considering how actively users like to give their opinion, no I wouldn't be worried 😄.

The latest compatibility stats for Sinytra Connector are in, and they show just how far we've come since the initial release almost 3 years ago. Are there any mods you'd like to play on Connector that aren't compatible yet?

You are up to date.
