Found a bug ➡️ spent ages figuring out why the bug ➡️ fixed the bug ➡️ had a thought, checked it ➡️ now my tool (internal, sorry lol) has extra bonus functionality because it turns out the fix also makes something totally unexpected work! 🤩🤩🤩

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

nytimes.comHow Trump Gave the Worst Polluters a Free Pass (Gift Article)The president temporarily waived clean-air rules for industrial facilities that spew cancer-causing gases. Then his appointees worked to gut the regulations altogether.

🤦‍♀️ I know I must be potty for science because I just saw a picture that included a very ornate chandelier, and for the first couple of seconds I thought it was a quantum computer 😳

Thank you to AstraZeneca Macclesfield for hosting us today. Great to see the site and give a talk about what our group has been working on. #ChemSky

Instead of removing graphical abstracts, borking RSS feeds, and hiding the view PDF button, I wish journal websites would work on what's most important – a dark mode option so I don't burn my face off every time I read your papers #chemchat

A life-sized statue of #climate denier Florida governor Ron DeSantis unveiled and promptly began melting. The structure was cast from solid gallium, a metal that melts at 85.6F (29.8C). www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Cheers for the mthrfcking weekend! And it's an even better weekend when you have Jaguar calculations quietly running themselves no matter what you get up to 🎉🎉 🐆 #compchem #RealTimeChem

I am once again asking the entire healthcare industry to stop dealing with women's health only in the context of men and having sex with men (currently appealing an Axa decision that said anything involving hormones is "contraception" and couldn't possibly be, you know, my health)

Aha, a response to my appeal! "Please note that we do not cover this treatment for any reason." Next line: "We can help you find a specialist that your membership covers in full" < oh thanks, that's not completely confusing or anything.

Now the @cenmag.bsky.social team understands how I feel... I spend a lot of time curating chemical data sources and the absolute prevalence of wrongness even in reputable sources (Nobel Prize vs CAS, for example) is... really not low 😁 #chemoinformatics #chemsky

I don't have stats on this, but I feel like I'm finally starting to see more #UKchemjobs in the pharma/CxO sphere pop up in the past few weeks/months. Anyone agree? I can't tell for real because my bubble will be very statistically noisy #chemjobs #chemchat

For anyone (likely no one) following my personal spice saga, my Nepalese timur peppercorns - a close relative but judging by a curry I had lately, more citrusy - have arrived! Not to be dramatic but we are in a new era of deliciousness and mala here.

I didn't just not predict it this year, but really didn't see it coming at all for this particular citation. I'm pretty happy with it though! Both the non-linear effects and autocatalysis highly important and interesting in the field of catalysis

Did Kenso Soai just say he was out grocery shopping when he got the call 😂😂😂 (I missed the start of the sentence but I assume that's what it was!)

Finally I am a space robot on #Duolingo! My avatar's slightly alarming grin belies that they are rightfully as happy as I am about robots 😂 🇸🇪

Once upon a dream, somebody will raise an invoice either to or from a university, and it will not take *checks clock* 30 minutes to try and figure out whether it makes any sense, before concluding that it in fact does not (again)... :)

Hm I only just noticed, but in something I published years ago then the ACS editors changed words like "colour" in titles in the reference list to the American variants. Feels weird; I'd have thought you're supposed to leave citations alone?

The AstraZeneca researchers’ tool uses cheminformatics and quantum mechanics to assess molecules’ conformations and transition states as part of pre-screening for problematic isomers. Kirstine Anderson reports: #ChemSky @rsc.org www.chemistryworld.com/news/tool-fl...

How is this so accurate though #chemchat

A few folks have asked how I make molecular animations from ChemDraw. Sadly, the answer has been “the old-fashioned way,” frame by frame. This was too slow. So I worked with Claude Science to create a webpage that animates your ChemDraws. Give it a try: rshenvi.github.io/cdxmorph/

My local tech group just had a prototype demo of a game for crowds (even whole stadia!) and I only caught the results as they were fading off the screen, but proof that I was a top player 😂😂

Love to look up statistics in articles from management consultancy companies and find out that there is no primary source - they just made them up...
