S01 got the benefit of the doubt from me, but S02 confirms it: Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender is a *horrible* adaptation. The dialog is clunky, the story is condensed so much and they skip over most of the character development that made the cartoon so good.

To the person that stole my vinyl record at the Joey Valence & Brae concert tonight: I hope you step on a Lego piece.

Prediction: in the next 6-12 months, we'll see a resurgence of "tokenless" tools and workflows. People will flock to existing scripts and apps to deterministically handle tasks instead of spending increasingly more expensive tokens to do the same things.

This local Wolfdog joined an Olympic ski event and triggered the finish-line camera. This is Nazgul. He snuck into a cross-country skiing sprint this morning and raced the homestretch with some competitors before being escorted home. 14/10 someone get him a medal

I'm pretty deep in the "person plays vinyl records in their bedroom" side of YouTube and it's some of the most wholesome content on the site. Just people sharing music they love for the fun of it.

2. I can add some dynamic content to the site without having to work around the constraints of a static site generator. There are solutions for scheduled tasks to periodically update a static site (i.e. rebuild every ~hour with Cloudflare Workers or GitHub Actions) but this is just easier.

1. It's massively lowered the barrier for me to write and publish. Previously I'd have to create a Markdown file and commit it to git, which is kind of hard to do away from the computer.

Monetization. Obviously running a game like this is not free (infrastructure wise, let alone my time spent on it). I don’t want the game to become pay-to-win, so building it with eventual monetization in mind is a hard requirement.

Scale. I’ll likely need to capture a good percentage of people on the AT protocol before it’s even remotely playable with a good chance you’ll interact with another player.

Content. This type of game requires new content all the time. For players it’s a passive game (sign up, join a cycle, forget about it), but the admin (me) needs to keep adding new variants, schedule new cycles, etc.

Balancing. Finding the right starting % to “infect”, infection chances, and other small gameplay tweaks I’ll probably need to make before I can consider it “done”.

Just broke my 1800+ day meditation streak on #Headspace and honestly… it feels like a relief more than anything else. Keeping the streak alive was starting to feel more important to me than the actual meditation practice, and that can’t be conducive to good mindfulness.

I’ll probably also get rid of my subscription to #Headspace, tbh. Over the past ~5 years (!!!) I’ve gotten everything I wanted to out of it. I’ll probably keep meditating, as it’s been massively helpful to me over the years. But I don’t need an app to guide me anymore.

Obsidian is by far the best note-taking tool I’ve used, but it severely missed the mark for me on mobile. Just felt clunky and a little bit of an afterthought. But I found notebooknavigator.com the other day and HOLY CRAP that made all the difference in the world! 10/10 best plugin, no contest.

You know what I love about AT proto and the apps built on top of it? There’s no need to “rush” anywhere to claim your username. Your username is just the same it is everywhere in the network: at://<domain name> 👌

What are everyone's favorite favorite albums from the last few years? Like on par with renaissance, brat, in waves…esp ones that are maybe more under the radar but really fun and relistenable and all around great! *same tone as "I'm putting together a team"* I'm putting together a playlist

I built a ridiculous 1000 pixel display that takes an hour to draw an image and I'm now asking the internet to draw on it (what could go wrong?) Please submit some 40×25 pixel art at kilopx.com!

Have you ever tried explaining the plot of a Rick & Morty episode to someone who’s never seen the show? It’s impossible without sounding like an insane person.

The best sci-fi book I’ve read so far. Read it, watch the trailer for the upcoming movie, and join me in waiting 9 months for it to be released.

Do yourself a favour: if you’ve not read the book Project Hail Mary but you plan to watch the film, don’t watch the trailer. Gives away way too much about the story. So much it would actually ruin the book should you plan to read it. Just trust me, it’s good, if you like sci-fi you should try it.

Going through my podcast queue of ~200 or so not-yet-listened-to episodes, cutting everything I’m not super interested in. That left me with 130 episodes, totaling about 128 hours 🫠 I’ll never be fully caught up.
