ok so I know a lot of people regard books as precious etc to be preserved forever but I don't think people are ready to hear about the amount of weeding and withdrawals we have to do at the library. like I told my mum about a book I had to bin the other day and she was HORRIFIED

one time I told a friend about a waterlogged and unreadable copy of san francisco's library catalogue from the 1800s, he was like "oh my god you have to save it" dude we are a public library in the SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE!! they already have pristine copies and scans over there! we shouldn't have this!!
