If you are able and your state laws allow, PLEASE vote in person and early. It helps level out the workload for poll workers like me (I am an Election Day Tech for our county BoE). It allows time to correct problems with your ID so your vote counts. Help put the deplorables back in their basket!

I am so angry with my own political party and its candidates right now I could scream. Fundraising texts start about 8:00 a.m. most every day, interrupt my work all day long (often multiple per hour), and they set a new record tonight by texting me *after midnight*. (1 of 2)

Did I opt in for this? No. Texts are an anxiety trigger for me, so other than essentials like flight cancellation notices and healthcare, I don't opt in for texts. The numbers are different every time, so blocking doesn't help. Read my lips: You cannot infuriate me so much I start throwing money.

@bethesdaunion.bsky.social The latest layoffs are yet another demonstration of how corporate acquisitions and mergers are rarely good for customers, employees, or the economy -- only investors. There are *no* exclusives that would lure me to buy an XBox from the Microsoft overlords who did this.

So, I hear there are some hydrology problems in Washington DC. Rumor has it the brilliant leader on mission to "drain the swamp" has somehow managed to *create* a swamp instead. The goal was figurative, the failure literal. He has pegged the needle on the incompetence meter.

As I type this, I'm playing D&D with friends. I'm not saying my luck has been poor, but a litle while ago one of my friends rolled her attack. My comment was, "Wait -- Are you saying a d20 has two-digit numbers, too?!" Draw your own conclusions.

U.S. citizens: Our best hope of stopping the dystopian catastrophe of MAGA is to *vote*. Protesting matters. Speaking out matters. Community organizing matters. Voting MAGA out of local, state, and federal elected offices *matters most of all*. Check your registration status. Vote early, in person.

I have a question for someone well educated in design theory. When I look at Trump's taste in decor, I see a tawdry attempt at grandeur, pathetically missing any true elegance. Some people see the same decor projecting power, prestige, and wealth. What accounts for such strong preferences?

The new #GeometryNodes features in Blender 5.0 and 5.1 (@blender3d.bsky.social) are awesome! I've got a working prototype (which I'll share soon) of procedural motion graphics I couldn't do in 4.x that were easy in Blender 5. Great job on documentation, too, so often overlooked in other software. 👍

This is what it looks like when government agencies set aside turf lines and act together in the public's interest. Well done.

It's been over a decade since I messed with KDE, and I'm impressed with how it has evolved. Wayland + KDE Plasma solved one *major* pain point for me: I can set fractional scaling per monitor. My native 4K laptop now works *so* much better with FHD projectors and the spare monitor in my lab! [2/2]

I wrote both of my U.S. Senators and my U.S. Representative demanding Congress act to stop Trump's war crimes and threatened genocide before it's too late. My Representative is already on our side, so the wording there was supportive rather than confrontational. Protest. Speak. Vote. #NotInOurName

Watching live the POTUS radio call with the Artemis II crew. Trump babbles on and on, barely giving anyone else a chance to speak, then just lets the conversation dangle for so long that three of the four astronauts were *literally* twiddling their thumbs waiting. What a buffoon.

Zelenskyy is every good thing our chief executive is not: courageous, patriotic, compassionate, and ethical.

I love this man. Who cares what the Orange Failure thinks about this. When Volodymyr speaks of ammunition and weapons he's speaking about LITERAL physical defense of the people and the country he loves. And he'll never fail them. He's the Leader of the Free World. Give him the damn prize already.

ICE has kept a disabled double amputee prisoner for over 14 months. Rodney Taylor has been denied access to his prosthetic legs. Forced to crawl across dirty floors to access food. Placed in solitary. Denied medical accommodations. They’re killing him & he needs the community to make noise!

theguardian.comHer husband is a double amputee in ICE prison. She confronted Kristi Noem over its cruel conditions: ‘I have a fire inside’Mildred Danis-Taylor dropped everything to advocate for the release of her husband, Rodney Taylor. A brutal year of legal and health challenges led her to Capitol Hill

According to #StephenColbert, the Trump administration is trying to scrub this photo because it is "unflattering" to the Press Secretary. I'm posting this public service announcement to help spread the word that this photo should be deleted immediately. "Refs unpersons doubleplusungood."

Also at today's #NoKings rally, this woman's sign reads, "Somewhere in America, a young girl is in an attic writing about ICE." They have the thugs. We have the literate.

That's one awesome render.

And I'm just about to fire up Blender 5.1 for the first time, having installed the upgrade last night.

I love the analogy: "The stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones." We can -- must! -- move to renewable energy with or without favorable government policy. Vote with your wallet, and the corporations will follow the money, not the party line.

ChristianG@mryeswecan.eurosky.social

Fancy that. A gas station. Where no car is tanking gas - but the EV chargring units are fully occupied. The stone age didn’t end because we ran out of stones – and the fossil‑fuel age won’t end because we run out of oil. It will end because better, more reliable technologies take over.

This sort of work is exactly why Freya's YouTube channel was one of the first URLs I shared with a brilliant student I met recently, as a mentor at a university Game Jam. She taught herself C++ in middle school and is now (age 17) creating custom shaders in HLSL-like languages. Kindred spirits!

Freya Holmér@freya.bsky.social

I'm almost there it's so pretty!! 😭 this is the first time I've made extensive use of complex numbers in shader code, which has been fun! it's an analytic 2D lighting system through piecewise conformal maps representing angular light/"sky" exposure, which means you get fully analytic penumbras!

I'm personally against the Iran war, but I *assume* military recruitment centers are overwhelmed with MAGA volunteers enlisting to support their Dear Leader. Right?

If the U.S. wants to be regarded as a leader in the free world, we need to understand the difference between "leader" and "boss". Also, it would help if we don't literally threaten to attack and conquer our closest allies.

What @cwebbonline.com says. Voting against slavery should be unanimous.

Christopher Webb@cwebbonline.com

Sit with what this says to the descendants of enslaved people. March 25th at the United Nations: 123 countries voted YES. The US, Israel, and Argentina voted NO, rejecting the idea that slavery is a crime against humanity. 13 million people. The defense? “It wasn’t illegal when we did it.”
