The final numbers: Curran Stikuts 11,877 %28.6 Chris Moise 9,690 %23.4 Daniel Tate 6,288 %15.2 As I walked out my door to vote, this was handed to me and I thought “I just caught a Hail Mary Pass.” Congratulations to Stikuts and his team. They ran a great campaign.
His campaign did put this out in the days before the election (from a friend in the ward). Using Tate as a scare tactic vs his actual competitor.
“A commitment to not remain silent.” Stephen Beatty, Headmaster of Royal St. George’s College here in Toronto addressed the Senior School during assembly and it’s damn good.
The Galloway Case: “Margaret Atwood sure thinks she knows what happened. She might be right. But me? I’m not so sure…” Such careful, calm work here from @bcossman.bsky.social.
And once again this rhetoric from the President of the United States isn’t being reported on. Alarming to watch how over his now term and a half “It’s just Trump being Trump” so it’s not news has become “It’s just Trump being David Duke” so it’s not news.
Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."
Honestly, donating blood feels like something my friend Christine would pay to do.
Shoutout to Candian Blood Services for making it real easy to offload a half litre or so of blood. So many places are all "put pressure on the wound" or "somebody call an ambulance!" These folks are friendly, efficient, and they even provide the motorized blood cradle for you at no expense.
It was all that and a bag of chips.

What a sad end to an era. From my 11ty million disk box sets of Baldur's Gate I & II to Mass Effect 3, Bioware defined RPGs (and at times video games) to me for years.
BREAKING: Electronic Arts is cutting 400 jobs and shutting down BioWare, the legendary development studio behind Dragon Age and Mass Effect. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
BREAKING: Alberta has voted to stay in the cake and nibble around the edges, with 50.7% in favour of licking the candles and putting them back.
Is it starting to dawn on the people of Ontario that feeding huge wads of cash into the rusty old Make Cyclists’ Lives Worse Machine doesn’t make anyone else’s life better?
NEW ABACUS POLL: Doug Ford's government continues to face more disapproval than approval. Approve: 36% Disapprove: 43% Neither: 18% Government approval is unchanged since August, but disapproval is up 2 points. abacusdata.ca/ford-pcs-sl...

I regret to inform you that if The Telegraph calls anything “the most revolting phrase in the English language” it behooves everyone on Blue Sky to start using it. Why, oh why, could they not have hated on Menty B instead? It’s giving me a Menty B, it is.
While The Telegraph has deemed 'picky bits' "the most revolting phrase in the English language", more Britons have a positive view of the term (43%) than a negative one (25%), with 31% neutral yougov.com/en-gb/articl...
The Brothers Karamazov is frankly weak, there are better brands of salsa, and I have just called all three of the men formally known as my brothers.
I disavow the Muslim Brotherhood, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (they know why) and every musical artist or stage musical actor that has, at any point, sung the phrase "brotherhood of man."

It’s an alarming trend. Bradford didn’t respond to surveys from us, Cycle Toronto, Toronto Environmental Alliance, ACORN and many others. It’s important to know where candidates stand on the most important issues facing the city. Transit. Cycling. Climate change. Housing. Who is he listening to?
Transit advocacy group @ttcriders.bsky.social did an extensive survey of Toronto election candidates, asking if they would commit to 18 priorities. Chow committed to all of them. Bradford didn't respond. Christian Malong digs into it for @thegrindto.bsky.social.
“No indication of 'any terrorist activity' in incident as investigation ongoing: DND official…”
One of the things that struck me living in LA at the time is that somehow OJ Simpson made his flight. Very few celebrities seemed capable of managing this without assistance — even if they hadn’t just brutally murdered two people.
NEW: O.J. Simpson. A secret informant. The missing murder weapon. An accomplice tale. And law enforcement records that were kept secret for 30 years — until now. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/18/u...

And here’s @senatorpaulasimons.bsky.social with a message for Alberta — that much of the rest of the world needs to hear as well.
Senator Paula Simons on the Oct. 19 Alberta referendum: "‘We can’t let the anti-immigrant, anti-migrant rhetoric of the toxic Trump regime colonize our imaginations and trick us into thinking that Alberta has an immigration problem when it doesn’t." #ABPoli thetyee.ca/Opinion/2026...
Doug Ford lighting traffic-snarling bonfires of your money and throwing the odd body on in the hopes of keeping his base warm.
"Ripping out these protected bike lanes against the will of Toronto city council is a colossal waste of $48 million. The province’s own experts know it will not ease traffic congestion, it will put people’s lives at risk, and there is no network of side streets that could replace these lanes."

An ICE agent on the scene of a shooting in upper Manhattan on Thursday has repeatedly been accused in federal court of unlawful arrests and using force during arrests in New York and Minneapolis, a WIRED investigation finds.
Short Talk On The King And His Courage He arose laden with doubt as to how he should begin. He looked back at the bed where the grindstone lay. He looked out at the world, the most famous experimental prison of its time. Beyond the torture stakes he could see, nothing. Yet he could see. -Anne Carson

NB to those saying universities should appease the administration with some ritual self-denunciation: they are going to keep coming after us no matter what. They will keep fabricating excuses to do so.
Vance: "Some of America's most elite universities bring in foreigners to undercut wages of American residents. There are 9 universities in particular we believe merit an investigation. Those are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, the University of Pittsburg, UC Davis, Cal Tech, Arizona State, and MIT."

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.
There it is. Elon Musk now advocating for Alberta separation. That should perhaps be one of the biggest reasons to vote to stay. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli
