There comes a time in every reactionary politician's life when he must steel himself, insert a nasogastric tube for unclear reasons, put on his bravest grimace, and give the weirdest thumbs-up anyone has ever seen.

Earliest I know of is the VMU mini game Chao Adventure (part of Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast).

this is one of the most NYC things imaginable! I love how witty and cultured the average new yorker is, something I took for granted until I left 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

holy smokes, conan strikes up a chat with a random lady on the subway and she immediately starts riffing on his level, no problem.

I don't have to be the first to the answer every single time... in fact, I almost never will be... but the more I pay attention to the answers that reveal themselves around me, the quicker I will become at finding new ones...

in embracing our plurality alongside the dharma, we have learned many, many things... one of those is how to truly believe that we are never alone. in everything we do, we now have company! not having outside company used to tear us up immensely, but it does less and less these days...

as it turns out, truly believing we're part of something greater makes us really happy! doing this whilst confronting lots of painful truths has led us to navigate our feelings more carefully... and now we feel more complete! fear dissipates as knowledge builds... strength comes from inside. 💚

overnight, I wrote a long thread on a whim about imagination, free thought, art, and love. it's a deep and raw expression of a truth I understand, and I figure just about anyone could find something to appreciate in it. if this thread helps anyone in any way, then it is worth the effort! 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

from our VERY first thought, we use our imaginations, our ability to freely think to construct MYRIAD pathways in our minds, DESPERATE to gain an understanding of the overwhelming stimuli we're BOMBARDED with from that moment none of us have a CLUE what's going on, and we spend our lives searching!

the buddha did not mean for everyone to eliminate their "attachments", because he didn't speak english. were he speaking sutras now, he'd use a word we can only guess at. if I had to guess, one word could be "weaknesses" but even that doesn't encapsulate the idea. let me explain.

ideally, none of us would ever suffer again, but the suffering is guaranteed. it makes us into such wildly different and deep characters! if you feel like an extra, that likely means you just need more acting experience. take on harder roles. challenge yourself. be ANYONE you want to be! LEARN! 💚💚💚

when you understand what is to be truly gained from suffering, and what is worthless and valid to discard from it, you will truly understand that "attachments" isn't the right word. like most things in buddhism, the words don't do it justice. anyone CAN feel these things! it just takes time~ 💚💚💚💚💚💚

a lot of people think "taking care of myself" means hurting themselves on purpose. it's the same as doing anything else to yourself. if you know you're doing it, you can't react properly to it. good actors act well through empathy. thinking about, and feeling the feelings of their characters.

we are all actors in the play of existence, which from our perspective, isn't finished being written yet! if you want to play a good character, that character must have the right motivations to be good. and that means the character must suffer to improve, AND/OR you must consider others' suffering.

if you want good things in your life, you must become resilient to their loss. most of the time, when others realize they can't handle losing something, they rip the bandaid and push the good thing away. but that only brings hurt sooner. you must strengthen yourself to your inevitable loss, instead

if you want good things in your life, you must understand you will eventually lose ALL of those good things, and/or your "self". all form is empty in buddhism (gist: nothing is "real"). it doesn't mean that you shouldn't care. it just means you need to care THOUGHTFULLY, and take care of yourself!

current understanding uses "attachments" to describe things you love, but not solely as things you love! these have to be things you love, and that you'd be devastated about losing. at first glance, that seems ridiculous! why discard all the good things and keep the bad? that's just it, you don't!

in certain types of hinduism and buddhism, a "mudra" is a pose, typically made with the hands, that represents thoughts and feelings that remind the user of deep truths of the universe, giving them great power here's an example! this one represents trust, giving you the power to break the internet~
